About the new color of the website that is? I was really tired of the pink but didn’t want to totally change themes so I decided to just change the font and the main font color. Singer Rihanna is actually responsible for the new look. When I saw her album cover I immediately fell in love with the dark turquoise text and knew it would be my next chosen color. For those interested, the cursive font is Black Jack and the hex color is #1C8694.
Well it’s official. Paul McCartney has America’s #1 album, T-Pain holds the #2 position and Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad comes in at #3. Hits Daily Double has Rihanna selling 162,168 copies of her album but those numbers will change when Sound Scan releases their numbers tomorrow. What won’t change however is the order. Rihanna’s two previous albums also debuted near the top of the charts so this is definitely good news for her.

As hard as it is to believe, a whole year after the trailer for this film first hit the internet, people are still talking about the garbage that is Diary Of A Tired Black Man. Now, I started not to give this movie any time and space on my site, but I see that I must just to talk about how much I hate it. For those of you who haven’t yet had the pleasure of seeing this modern day hate movie aimed at Black women, you can see clips of it on their official website. Word is it is also playing in selected theaters across the country. I happen to have had the opportunity to talk to the writer of this film, Tim Alexander, personally. We spoke several times by phone last year and he even invited me to some function he was attending aimed at dialoguing with Black women about the content of his movie. I passed on accompanying him to this pow wow with Black women because I knew what Tim was up to and I had no plans to help him.

Or at least the makers of the Pro Line brand of Black hair care products think she is, as they have bestowed the coveted title of Miss Soft & Beautiful 2007 upon her. Pro Line says the award is given to role models and Sanaa was chosen by an esteemed panel of voters who participated in a recent Sister 2 Sister internet poll. The competition for this title was stiff as Sanaa beat out such luminaries as Queen Latifah, model Tyra Banks, and all around it girl, Beyonce Knowles. “I’m so honored to be named Miss Soft and Beautiful 2007,” Ms. Lathan said. “It is such a delight to be recognized by the women in my community. A huge part of my life intention is to uplift women. This means so much. Thank you.”

It seems Garcelle Beauvais is following in the footsteps of another Black actress, Stacey Dash, and is taking it all off for the pages Playboy Magazine. According to Playboy’s Cyber Club, Garcelle has posed for the August issue of the men’s magazine which hits news stands at the beginning of July. Garcelle is probably best known for her role as Fancy on the Jamie Foxx Show. The sista however started her career off as a model and I believe she has been on the cover of Essence magazine more times than any other model. Garcelle ruled the pages of many Black fashion magazines before she set her sights on Hollywood in the late eighties.

Five Women whose careers have expirations dates. This was one of the most interesting articles I have read online in a while. As I sat back and attempted to think of five sistas whose careers I thought had expiration dates fast approaching, I realized that I could think of none. Was this a good thing? Are the sistas who presently hold the top spots in acting and music so talented that their careers could possibly be infinite? Well in my mind- yes. However, I realize not everyone feels the way I do, and so naturally this is where you guys, my readers, come into play.

I freely admit to being a Robin Givens fan and always felt she got a bum rap from the media and the Black community in general who labeled her a gold digger. As you all know Robin married Mike Tyson back in 1988 when he was the World’s Heavyweight Boxing Champion and a beloved figure of the media. Their marriage was tumultuous to say the least and they were divorced just a year later. Tyson walked away from the short lived marriage unscathed but Robin suffered a career fallout and was labeled the most hated woman in America. Since then the sista has starred in a few low budget movies and appeared on a few shows here and there, but her career never really recovered and almost 20 years later, and at the insistence of Oprah Winfrey, Robin has written a book to finally tell her side of the story.
