Well it appears Beyonce is not about to go away anytime soon as Jim Hill Media is reporting the singer is in talks with Disney to star in the movie adaptation of the Tony Award winning play, Aida. In the past both Toni Braxton and Heather Headley have played this role on Broadway but it appears that Disney thinks Beyonce has what it takes to make this film a hit on the big screen. There is no word yet whether Beyonce will accept the role or not, but with music and production from Elton John and Tim Rice, I think it’s a safe bet that she will. Stay tuned…

After a 3 year absence, the Essence Music Festival is back in New Orleans and being headlined by some of the biggest acts in R n’ B music. The three day festival will have performances from Ciara, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Rowland, Beyonce and many others. Day one saw Ciara take to the stage and do her Matrix routine. Day two brought Beyonce to the stage and closing out the festival on day three will be Kelly Rowland and Mary J. Blige. As many of you know, Kelly Rowland released her sophomore album, Miss Kelly, earlier this week and her competition for the top spot on next week’s chart is pretty stiff. Kelly is going head to head with Atlanta rapper T.I. and according to one day sales from Hits Daily Double, T.I. is winning- by a landslide. According to the sometimes right and sometimes wrong source, T.I. is on his way to selling over 500,000 copies of his CD, while Kelly is due to sell just over 100,000 copies of her new opus. Now even though Kelly will obviously not come in at #1, the #2 slot isn’t so bad and with a great follow up single to Bump Like This, we are sure the Miss Kelly album will have what it takes to at least go platinum.

While browsing the net today I came across another one of those “Why doesn’t Beyonce Go Away For A While” articles and that was it- I knew I had to vent about this issue or risk popping a vein. Now I know the name Beyonce either evokes love or hate in most people but just for a moment, let’s try and put all those emotions aside and address this topic rationally and without prejudice.

It was a busy weekend for sistas as Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and Solange Knowles all attended big events. Solange celebrated her b’day down in New Orleans with big sis Beyonce by her side. While Rihanna and Alicia Keys participated in a much more selfless event, Live Earth. First up however is Solange who celebrated her birthday for the second time at the Essence Music Festival where Beyonce performed last night . Solange turned 21 years old and rumors are running rampant that not only will there be a Destiny’s Child reunion album, but that Solange will be added as a fourth member. In an attempt to lose her girl next door image, actress Meagan Good will take on the role of a lesbian in her new independent film, Sundays In Fort Green. The movie centers around two sister’s desperately trying not to end up like their drug addicted mother. Meagan’s character also struggles with her sexual identity, as well as the best way to come out to her family. Sundays In Fort Green will be the second independent film Meagan has starred in and produced under her own production company, Freedom Bridge Entertainment.
Which female celebrity was recently caught reading this book? I will give you a few hints. She is a fashion model/designer. She is BFF to Tyra Banks and Beyonce Knowles. Pink lipstick that is. Blu Cantrell made a rare appearance earlier this week at the BET Awards After Party, and the sista’s lips arrived before she did. I know this fuschia colored lipstick is suppose to be one of the hottest make-up trends of the summer but I am not feeling this look on darker skin tones. Both Blu and Beyonce have tried to pull off this look and failed. I will admit Bey’s color was a little more realistic, while Blu’s shade looks a bit more clownish. Personally with the weather warming up I think it’s best to skip heavy greasy lipstick all together and just go with a touch of M.A.C Lipglass. In the past Blu’s crazy fashion sense and make-up choices have usually been a favorite of mine but this look I will have to give a thumbs down to. Sistas of all shades need to let this trend pass them right on by.

Singer Janet Jackson and Tyler Perry appeared on Extra TV in a taped interview they gave to the channel on the set of their new movie “Why Did I Get Married?”. The interview was done back in May and Tyler talks about Janet’s un-diva like behavior on the set and why he hopes to work with her again in the future. He also shares an exclusive clip of Janet from the movie. I don’t know the actual breakdown of the scene but Janet plays the role of Diane and is seen breaking up a fight between friends.
