Black star power was in full effect last night as actors, musicians and athletes came out to celebrate the best and brightest talents the Black community has to offer. Monique as always was a great host and killer performances by both Ciara and Beyonce kept us entertained for the entire three hours. However, this post is all about the really good stuff- the pics. One look at Beyonce up top proves why talking about what people wore is the most enjoyable part of any awards show. Girlfriend took to the stage to perform Get Me Bodied decked out in a futuristic robotic costume that came apart to reveal a sexy gold lame outfit underneath.

Missy Elliott Celebrates Her Birthday
Missy Elliott turned 36 over the weekend and celebrated her big day with friends and family at a party thrown at the Dune in the Hampton’s and hosted by Heineken. Singer Chili was one of many guests who turned out to help Missy celebrate. Chili recently wrapped production on her first solo album which has several tracks written and produced by Missy.

Well if Beyonce, Fantasia and Alicia Keys can do it, who is to say Keyshia Cole can’t take her talents to the big screen as well? BlackFilm.com is reporting that Keyshia and rapper Fabolous are due to star in the Karl Lagerfeld produced hip hop drama, Only The Hood Dies Young. The movie, which is due to start production in October, centers around a young drug dealer (Fabolous) struggling with his mother’s addiction and his girlfriend, played by Keyshia. Fabolous has appeared on the big screen before, most notably in Scary Movie 4 back in 2006. This however will be Keyshia’s first foray into movies and I wish her luck. Who knows? Maybe a few years from now she’ll surprise us all and be picking up her own Oscar as Jennifer Hudson did.

The BET Awards are scheduled to air tomorrow night and of course that means lots of pre Awards parties have been happening over the last few days. One of those parties, hosted by Kevin Liles, attracted a slew of beautiful brown Brown Sistas, including Elise Neal, Shaun Robinson and Melyssa Ford.

Bey spent her last day of freedom in St Tropez before heading back to the states where she is due to perform on tomorrow night’s BET Awards. Word is Beyonce will be opening the show with a medley of her B’ Day hits, including Upgrade U and Get Me Bodied. Jay is a rumored special guest and if he does perform with Bey, that will be some sort of record, as I believe they will have opened the BET Awards twice in the past as well. It’s no wonder BET is turning to Beyonce again, as their show last year, which she also opened, was a record breaker, pulling in a whopping six million viewers and even besting the MTV Video Awards.

So you guys remember that sometime ago we discussed Adina Howard and her possible return to the music scene. Well it appears that time is upon us as Adina’s new album, Private Show, is due to hit record store shelves this Tuesday, June 26th. The album boasts production from Black Eye Peas producer Poli Paul and to preview tracks you can check out Adina’s My Space Page . However, with songs like Tease and Phone Sex, I think it is safe to assume that the new Adina is as much a freak as the old one- an observation which I’m sure pleases her die-hard fans.

As another week comes to a close here on Brown Sista, we once again present to you this week’s batch of random images. We will start things off with Bey and Jay who have been having a very PDA week. All these public displays of affection have apparently caught people off guard as folks are acting shocked to see two people who have been dating for five years hug and kiss each other. News Flash: After five years, I think it’s safe to assume that they have done this before. There is no need to become alarmed or call in the National Guard.
