The Dreamgirls juggernaut is in full swing as Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce Knowles, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx and Director Bill Condon met with the press this week to discuss their upcoming movie.As you all know, Dreamgirls is due to hit the big screen Christmas Day and if early reviews are to be believed, the movie will be a smash and Jennifer Hudson may walk away with an Academy Award.I personally do not think young Jennifer will win but I do think Beyonce has a good chance of being nominated for her song “Listen” and an even better chance of winning.But Oscar talk is really premature at this moment because the movie isn’t even out and let’s face it, The Academy has never been all that kind to so called “Black Movies”. Lionsgate has released a new poster for Tyler Paerry’s upcoming movie “Daddy’s Little Girls”.A romantic drama about family, community and love against the odds, Tyler Perry’s Daddy’s Little Girls stars Gabrielle Union and Idris Elba.
A single father, Monty (Elba) is a garage mechanic who lives in a poor neighborhood and struggles to make ends meet as he raises his three young daughters on his own. But when the courts award custody of his daughters to his corrupt, drug-dealing ex-wife, Monty desperately tries to win them back, enlisting the help of Julia (Union), a beautiful, yet hard-nosed attorney he meets during his short stint as a chauffeur. While Monty and the Ivy-League-educated Julia couldn’t be less alike, an unexpected romance blossoms…and it soon begins to feel like true love. But in order for their relationship to survive, the couple must reconcile their two very different worlds – and overcome the forces that threaten to tear Monty’s family apart.

The AMAs aired last night on ABC and as usual it was a total snooze.I am old enough to remember when the AMAs used to be “The” awards show to attend.Years ago the Grammys were known as the longest and most boring show in history and usually got lackluster ratings compared to the AMAs.That all changed when the Grammys became a fashion show and celebs, even those who weren’t singers, started using it to promote themselves.Then the President of the Grammys decided that artists who appeared and performed on the AMAs could not perform on the Grammys which usually aired about a month or so after the AMAs.

Kanye West has stirred up another controversy about race. The rapper, who made headlines when he declared that George W. Bush doesn’t care about black people, has startled some with his comments about the offspring of racially mixed couples. “If it wasn’t for race mixing there would be no video girls” West is quoted as saying in the January issue of Essence magazine. Contrary to what you all may have heard, Whitney Houston’s home in Atlanta was not foreclosed on and sold on the steps of the Fulton County Courthouse.Whitney’s attorney and a Wachovia Mortgage Corp. official both confirmed that Whitney’s account is in good standing and that the singer actually has the house up the sale.Click here for full details.

Though many sites have been reporting that Janet Jackson is pregnant and cancelling her world tour, Janet’s publicist confirmed to US Magazine that the reports are false and that her tour is still on and scheduled to begin sometime in early 2007.In other Janet news, Miss Jackson is also featured on the cover of the French December issue of Chocolate Magazine.Janet will also be featured in the German 2007 FHM Calendar as the December Girl.Check back with us in a few days when we hope to have the scans available for viewing.
