You have got to be over twenty-five to remember this sista. Adina Howard burst onto the R n’ B scene in the mid nineties as a sexed up version of Janet Jackson. Complete with hot pants and the sexiest group of female back up dancers you have ever scene, Adina dominated the summer on 95′ with hits like My Up And Down and Freak Like Me. Adina’s first album Do You Wanna Ride was a certified hit and has sold 1.3 million copies to date. Unfortunately, like a lot of nineties acts, (En Vogue, Jade, Monifah) Adina’s career was short lived. Her second album, Welcome To Fantasy Island was shelved by her record label after they decided it contained no radio friendly singles. Undeterred, Adina has continued to record music and even collaborated with Jamie Foxx on his first CD.

Solange Knowles has finally found something to do with her spare time besides riding the coattails of her famous sister. MTV announced today that the wannabe singer, songwriter, producer, will guest host several episodes of MTV’s Total Requset Live while the station looks to find a permanent replacement for Vanessa Manillo who is leaving the once top rated show. The hosting gig is only a temporary thing as a rep for Solange said the singer is too busy working on a new album to take on a full time VJ-ing position with the station. Yayyy! New music from Solange. I can’t wait.

This week’s roundup is a treat as we have beautiful high quality photos of Ananda Lewis who is pretty reclusive these days. You all remember Ananda from her early days as host of BET’s Teen Summit. The sista then jumped ship and headed on over to MTV where she was a VJ for five years. Ananda was so popular on MTV that they bankrolled her talk show. Unfortunately, the show only lasted for two seasons but I still consider her the original Tyra.

Talk about a bummer. Less than three weeks after releasing a Deluxe Edition of her semi-successful B’day album, Beyonce Knowles and her camp have pulled the compilation from record store shelves citing the pending lawsuit brought by British singer Des’ree.

There are reports circulating that Whitney Houston and her longtime mentor Clive Davis are at odds with each other concerning the direction her new album should take. Word is Whitney wants to stick to the old way of doing things while Clive wants to bring in new people and add a possible Christina Aguilera collaboration to the mix.

Last night I got an interesting e-mail from someone concerning pics posted in the Brown Sista gallery. This person berated me for filling the gallery with pics of Black women with blue contacts. Now the term “filling the gallery” was a bit of a stretch as most of the pictures posted there are of sistas without contacts. Still, they were upset about two sistas in particular- Meagan Good and Blu Cantrell. Now I was aware that Blu Cantrell wore blue contacts, but not until closely looking at this pic and few others did I realize that Meagan Good wears them as well. Still, I saw no harm and told the e-mailer that I would not be removing them and considered their use of contacts a non issue.

Singer Amerie who was spotted taking in the sights of London earlier this week took to the stage last night to perform at the famed G-A-Y night club. Amerie, whose career has never quite taken off in the states is quite popular in Europe and I believe her two largest fan sites are both UK based. And while American Amerie fans may have to wait until God knows when for new music from the singer, her European fans have already been blessed with several new tracks and even an album release date. Don’t get mad at me. I just report the news, I don’t make it up. But unfortunately since being released a little over a month ago, Kelly’s Rowland’s first single (( Like This)) from her forthcoming album (( Miss Kelly)) , is languishing at a disappointing #81 on the Hot 100 singles chart ((Moving up from #89 last week)) . To make matters worse BET has only played the video 14 times while MTV and VH-1 haven’t played the video at all. I would like to say that I am surprised at how poorly the single is doing but I am not.
