Preview ‘Being Mary Jane’

BEING-MARY-JANE-ON-SET

It’s not much, but BET has finally unveiled a clip from their highly anticipated new show ‘Being Mary Jane, starring actresses Gabrielle Union and Tika Sumpter.

The show’s pilot was actually unveiled at last year’s Urban Film Festival and garnered rave reviews from those who saw it.

‘Being Mary Jane’ is expected to kick off BET’s new Thursday night lineup, which will reportedly include ‘What Would Dylan Do?,’ a new comedy starring R&B singer Kelly Rowland and ‘The Game’ actress Gabrielle Dennis.

Can’t wait.

Kelly Rowland on the Set of Her New Show

Kelly Rowland’s plate is fixin’ to be pretty full for the rest of 2012 and probably for most of 2013. Besides a new album to finish up and promote, Kelly has also taken on the role of television actress and will be starring in her own BET comedy series ‘What Would Dylan Do?’

Kelly was spotted on the set of her new show today, reportedly taping the pilot episode. As previously reported, Kelly will star as Dylan, a struggling relationship blogger who moves to L.A. hoping to find success in both her personal and professional life.

Gabrielle Dennis (The Game) and Melanie Liburd will also be joining the cast, playing Kelly’s (Dylan) best friend and roommate.

‘What Would Dylan Do?’ will be joining Gabrielle Union’s ‘Being Mary Jane’ on BET next year, for what the network hopes will be a stellar Tuesday night line-up of shows aimed at black women.

Miss Kelly Lands New TV Gig

What awesome news for Kelly Rowland.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 31-year old “Motivation” singer is in the midst of shooting a comedy pilot for BET.

“What Would Dylan Do,” the tentative title of the show, will star Kelly as Dylan, a struggling L.A. based relationship blogger who lives with her two best friends.

The roles of best friends will be played by actresses Gabrielle Dennis (The Game) and Melanie Liburd.

Warren Hutcherson, the man behind such shows as “Living Single” and “The Bernie Mac Show” will act as executive producer and lead writer.

Should Kelly’s show move beyond pilot status and actually get picked up, it will reportedly run alongside Gabrielle Union’s new show “Being Mary Jane,” which is set to make its debut in early 2013.

Kyla Pratt and Brandy Join BET

Singer and “Moesha” actress Brandy Norwood will be joining the cast of “The Game” when it returns to TV on January 10th. The fifth season will also see the return of PJ Byrne (Irv), Gabrielle Dennis (Janay), as well as guest appearances from Estelle, Nene Leakes, Loretta Devine and Selita Ebanks.

And in another bit of BET news, the channel also announced the addition of Kyla Pratt to their sophomore series “Let’s Stay Together.”

Kyla’s last major TV role was as Brianna Barnes on the hit show “One on One,” which ran from 2001-2006.

The 25 year old actress recently made headlines again when she revealed news that she gave birth last year. Several websites took Kyla to task for having a baby out of wedlock, while several reported that the baby’s father was a former stripper- a claim Kyla vehemently denied on her blog.
