The Mis-education of Jill Scott

By now everyone on the Black blogosphere knows that Jill Scott is standing firmly behind Bill Cosby as the sage comedian continues to be bombarded with rape allegations. The soul singer took to twitter to express her opinion on the matter after an activist contacted Jill to ask her to sign a petition demanding Temple University to end their relationship with Cosby. Jill also went on to ask for proof of the allegations, as well as “advise” women to go to the hospital after a rape instead of showering.

Jill Scott’s Twerking Tweet Offends Fans

Ooops, my bad. Jill Scott’s Twerking Tweet Gets Her In Trouble

Oh Twitter. Thou art a heartless bitch.

R&B singer Jill Scott inadvertently walked into a schit storm of trouble when she sent out this tweet. “Twerking was invented when some woman of African descent ran out of toilet paper. There’s plenty now. Kmart, 7-eleven, target… good prices 2.”

I got the joke. Others, particularly women of African descent, did not and quickly let Jill know their unhappiness.

Below is a sampling of the comments PG enough for me to post.

Jill quickly got wind of the furor and set about cleaning up the mess, tweeting “Relax. It’s a joke. Visuals darling. Visuals.”

When that wasn’t enough, Jill came back with a somewhat more humble apology. “O K For the slow and sensitive- African women since b4 Venus Hottentot have been know 4 the sizable derrière. It was a visual JOKE. Chill.”

Jill closed out the convo on a positive note, saying “Love the passion. Misguided, confused and ultra sensitive but good. The point- we’ve taken something private & made it über public. Pull up.”

Jill Scott is Blessed

It’s been a minute but Jill Scott is finally back with a new video from her “Light of the Sun” album. The ‘Blessed’ songstress is back with the visual of the same name, which wouldn’t you know it- she directed herself.

Jill enlists the help of rapper Paul Wall for the sensual video that finds the singer hopelessly addicted to what she calls a “diamond chip dick.”

According to Jill, ‘So Gone,’ the third single to be released from her ‘Light of the Sun’ album, is about desperately trying to wean yourself off a man’s good loving.

Watch Jill seek therapy below for a problem many women probably wish they had (lol).

Singer Jill Scott is “So Gone”

Singer Jill Scott takes it back… way back… on the cover for her new single “So Gone.”

The soulful diva is seen sporting a bit of 80’s fashion, rocking around the way girl dookie braids and bamboo earring.

According to Jill, the image, which was taken by photographer’s Gomiilion & Leupold, reminded her of the days of sitting out on the stoop with friends listening to music.

“So Gone (What My Mind Says),” features rapper Paul Wall and is the latest release from Jill’s “Light of the Sun” album.

Jill’s “Block Party Tour” is presently still in motion and will be making stops later on this month in Atlanta, Virginia Beach and Houston.
