Singer Rihanna is the latest artist to be added to the growing lineup of talent set to perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. The diva’s latest two singles, Take A Bow and Disturbia, are both riding high in the top ten, with Disturbia topping the charts at #1 and Take A Bow sitting pretty at #8. Rihanna is set to perform Disturbia live for the first time at the VMA show on September 7th and flew back into the country just yesterday to start hehearsals. The singer was spotted doing her usual shopping with her entourage in West Hollywood. And proving just how powerful the internet and bloggers are in general, an obviously fake story that has been floating around all week about the singer being broke is now making national and international news. To my surprise MTV UK and many other reputable sites, including those in the singer’s own country, are reporting the story as true and linking back to gossip blogs as their source.

It seems to be the natural to discuss the drama and some how the negative gets most of the focus. Today let’s talk about the positive. I have been inspired to talk about the GOOD men that are out here and get very little recognition. The hard working, motivated, ambitious, non cheating, honest and kind men. The men that are positive role models, good fathers, open doors and have pillow talk. Yes there are some still some stand up men and they should be acknowledged. Let’s celebrate the good men.

We can get back to the drama tomorrow.

As previously reportedly earlier this week, some of music’s biggest female singers have come together to record a song in support of cancer research. “Just Stand Up”, features vocals from singers Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Beyonce, Keyshia Cole, and many others. The single will officially hit radio and be available for download on iTunes September 2nd, however a leak of the single has made it’s way to the internet and can be heard here. All the ladies who participated in the making of this single will also come together September 5th to perform the song live during the “Stand Up To Cancer” TV special, set to air simultaneously on ABC, CBS and NBC.

One of my favorite actresses, Vivica A. Fox, was spotted in Hollywood today doing a bit of shopping at H. Lorenzo’s on Sunset Boulevard. The actress is prepping her new VH-1 reality show, Glam God with Vivica Fox. The premise is that 12 contestants will be asked to compete in challenges that will test their knowledge of fashion and style trends as they create the perfect look from head to toe. Those who fall short of creating that perfect look will have their style license revoked (At least that’s how VH1 puts it.). The winner will walk away with $100,000 and the chance to style a celebrity for a major Hollywood event, as well as photo spread in US Weekly Magazine. Glam God premieres tomorrow (August 21) at 10 p.m. on VH1.

It’s been nearly four years since Brandy last released a video but that is all about to change as the singer/actress was spotted out on the streets of Los Angeles earlier this week taping the new video for her single, Right Here (Departed). Brandy says her CD is an unadulterated look into her heart and her most personal album to date. “I have grown so much since my last album. Being able to express myself and my journey through my music is a feeling I can’t describe. With this new chapter of my life it feels good to have Rodney (Darkchild), a familiar face, by my side again. He brings out emotions in me like nobody else.” The new album, recently renamed “Human”, will be released November 11th via Epic Records and the Right Here video is scheduled to debut early September via Yahoo Music.

Though I was hoping for news on Janet Jackson’s upcoming tour or even word of a new single being released to radio- it wasn’t meant to be and thus I bring you the only news about Janet to be released in months. The singer’s lingerie line, which we told you about a few weeks ago, is almost ready to make it’s debut according to Women’s Wear Daily. Janet has teamed up with Bruno Schiavi, the designer behind Dr. 90210’s shapewear line. “Pleasure Principle”, yes Janet named the line after her 1987 hit song, will be an 18 piece collection ranging in sizes from 32A to 44G, and all pieces will retail for under $40. Janet is presently in negotiations with major chains to carry the line in the US, with plans to take the line global by 2009.

The relationship between LisaRaye McCoy-Misick and her estranged husband, The Premiere of the Turks & Caicos island, Michael Misick, has taken another bizarre turn. The actress, who was arrested for assault over the weekend along with her husband, has released photos to Essence Magazine that show her battered and bruised after the altercation with The Premiere. As you all well know, LisaRaye claims that after she entered the home that she and her husband shared on the Turks & Caicos island, her husband attempted to remove her- by any remains necessary, leading her to be airlifted to a hospital and treated for her injuries. And though she was later released the same night, it appears, at least in the photos, The Premiere’s handy work was still quite visible.
