Preserving Your Bikini Body

Congratulations! You’ve slimmed down enough to get in that cute bikini! Don’t ruin your figure with these calorie-filled summer staples.

Grilling

On the first nice day of the year, we immediately break out the grill. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and hot dogs are plentiful. But so are calories inside of them. A burger with the works could be upwards of 400 calories and 30 grams of fat! Instead try grilled chicken or shish kabobs. Both offer fewer calories with the shish kabob also giving you vegetable benefits.

Salads

Picnics are a super fun way to spend a nice summer day. But picnic food is rarely if ever healthy, especially the imposter salads. Taco salad, potato salad, and macaroni salad give a false sense of health security when in reality, they’re laden with saturated fats from mayonnaise and creamy dressings. Ignore the false advertisement. For the a salad with dark leafy greens and plenty of colorful vegetables and a light dressing.

Frozen Treats

The sound of an ice cream truck will send a person of any age right back to their childhood. When the sun is high and the temperatures swell, a nice ice cream bar is just what the doctor ordered. But your waistline does not agree. If you really want a cool snack but want to stay healthy, make your own 100% juice popsicles. Another idea is freezing fresh fruit and eating it when you’re tempted for creamier substances. If you’ve just gotta have it though, go for frozen yogurt instead of the full fat ice cream.

Take Out

A lot of times, the thought of turning on an oven in an already sweltering house is overwhelming. Take out offers you the benefits of a cool house and no work. Calories from outside food are usually much higher than when you prepare your own food. Ask how food is prepared before ordering. Request that no oil is used on your food. Ask for sauce on the side.

Drinks

Nothing screams summer like a big old margarita with salt on the rim and a cute umbrella. Margaritas, pina coladas, and other fruity summer drinks are not only high in calories from the alcohol, but from the sugar as well. If you really want to stay festive, put an umbrella in Crystal Light, lemonade or a virgin drink. Then again, you’ve waited all year for a nice day, a hot guy, and a big margarita. You’ve earned it!

  1. Oh please. You can eat anything in moderation.

  2. Moderation can keep you at an unhealthy weight. These tips along with good exercise, can help you to shed the unwanted pounds and look fit in a bikini. Which is the purpose of this post.

  3. I’m loving this Beauty & Fitness section. Staying in shape is one of my favorite topics.

No, “moderation” keeps you from over-eating. As soon as become obsessive about carbs, sweets, etc. that becomes your downfall. I don’t restrict anything from my diet. I do, however, practice eating in moderation and exercise regularly. That’s what keeps me looking good in a bikini.

  5. Take out is a definite no no and most nutritionists will tell you that. Cut out fast food and most people will notice a dramatic weight loss within months.
