The Queen’s Flavor Unit and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment announced Monday morning that the two camps will be entering into a partnership with Sony Pictures Television to produce a new syndicated talk show that will feature Latifah as the host.
Slated for a 2013 debut, the show will enter a now crowded daytime landscape that will likely include newbies Katie Couric, Jeff Probst and even comedian Steve Harvey.
The deal was reportedly spearheaded by Flavor Unit co-founder Shakim Compere and Overbrook executive Miguel Melendez. Both men will serve as executive producers alongside Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and Latifah herself.
According to a joint statement released by Will, Jada and Latifah, the trio had been looking for a project to work on together since the mid nineties when Latifah starred with Will on his ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ series and co-starred alongside Jada in their urban classic ‘Set it Off.’
