REGINA HALL JOINS THE HATE U GIVE CAST

Regina Hall Joins ‘The Hate U Give’ Cast

Actress Regina Hall has joined the cast of The Hate U Give, Fox 2000’s adaptation of the Black Lives Matter young adult novel of the same name. The Girls Trip star joins previously announced cast members Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games + Sleepy Hollow), Lamar Johnson (The Next Step), and Grimm’s Russel Hornsby.

The story follows sixteen-year-old Starr (Amandla), who despite her impoverished surroundings, attends an upscale suburban prep school. After witnessing the police shoot and kill her unarmed friend, the teen finds herself torn between the two different worlds she must navigate while dealing with her loss.

THE HATE U GIVE

The Hate U Give is based on Angela Thomas’ debut novel, which spent 22 weeks on the New York Times young adult best-seller list after debuting at number one. A bidding war took place soon after, with thirteen studios vying for film rights at auction. Fox quickly won out and immediately brought in Audrey Wells to pen the script and George Tillman Jr. (Power + Luke Cage + This is Us) to direct.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in Atlanta, Georgia next spring.
