The Grammys haven’t even begun yet and already there is drama. Singers Rihanna and Chris Brown, both of whom were scheduled to perform at tonight’s show, have cancelled their appearance. Right now there are all types of rumors running rampant. MTV is reporting a possible car accident which left Rihanna unable to attend. While several other news sources are reporting a possible arrest of Chris Brown, who is said to have allegedly assaulted a woman earlier in the day. Some (Faux News) have even sited sources close to the investigation as saying that Rihanna is the woman in question.
Right now details are sketchy but I’m sure by tomorrow morning we will have all the details.

i’m sad and disappointed by the turn of events… in truth this incident has hit so close to home i can do nothing but shake my head and pray that all parties get whatever help they need… my cousin…. married mother of three was assaulted by her husband of nearly 18 years about a week or two ago…. he was choking her and the only thing that stopped him was my cousin’s 75 year old grandmother and the fact that his two daughters had to pull him off their mother… and the saddest thing about the whole situation is my cousin admitted after he left that it wasn’t his first time hitting her and she wondered if she should press charges…. it was posted that when the cops came rihanna admitted that this was not the first time he hit her…. whether it was the first time or not… one hit can lead to a lot more… that was my purpose behind me adding the story of my cousin…

There is not much I can say except for this….if this is true, it’s very sad. To those that have never been in this situation, it’s hard to say what you’d do unless or until it happened to you. Love can sometimes cloud your good senses. To those of you that are in this situation now, GET OUT!!!! It rarely gets better. Sadly, it can end in tragedy, as we have seen in the Hudson family, and countless others’. I hope she has the support of her friends and family, and I’m glad she nipped it in the bud, hopefully, this was the first time. (if the reports are true)

So this morning I heard that Chris was released on $50,000 bail and that Rihanna had a fractured jaw. Dear lord, I hope this is not true, but there must be some truth to this. I always thought Chris was a sweetheart, but I know that domestic violence repeats itself. Both Chris and RiRi have a history of it in their family. ..I had to call the police this Saturday on my neighbors at 4am because I could hear the boyfriend beating the girl again. Once I heard the baby crying I finally called the police. We take these stories too lightly most of the time. I can’t believe so many of us spend time wondering if she actually deserved it. I’m even guilty of thinking that for a split second. However, no body deserves to be beaten under any circumstances and both parties need help. They are so young and they can learn from this. I can’t imagine getting hit in the face hard enough to break my jaw. Rihanna is a model and a singer, this entire thing not only hurts her emotionally but it can also mess up her performance and endorsements. AND even if this is a false accusation, the story alone can ruin Chris Brown’s career. It’s a sad story all around.
This is weird because there was a story floating around on the internet 2 years ago of an accusation of Chris Brown hitting a young lady. I didn’t at first believe but now there is evidence to support this claim. Anybody out there saying that she deserved it and provoked it are meanspirited period. The story is everywhere & the speculation is high as to WHY what was done was done. The PR teams are scrambling desperately to try and hide what went down by making up car accident stories & etc. But the bottom line & the TRUTH is that SOMEBODY if not BOTH of these ppl were hit. Don’t know the extent of the beating, but there are bruises. These 2 need to learn ,like many others that they need to keep their hands to themselves. I don’t believe that anyone knows the reason why Chris Brown — allegedly — assaulted Rihanna, but even if it were the case that she passed on an STD, that didn’t give him cause to attack her. In fact, unless a person is defending themselves against an attack or defending a person who is unable to defend themselves, there is no reason to attack another person. Let’s be clear. If you engage in sexual intercourse, both parties need to be responsible. When you fail to protect your health, then you intend the consequences. In other words, if you don’t want an unintended pregnancy or an STD, BOTH parties need to do what is needed to avoid that consequence. This isn’t rocket science.
I’m shocked and digusted that anyone would find the possibility of spreading an STD to be good cause to attack a woman. Particularly an STD like herpes where only 1 out of 3 people even know they have it. Zora Neale Hurston once wrote that black women were the mules of this world.
