Rihanna Covers Atlanta Peach Magazine
Singer Rihanna covers the September edition of Atlanta Peach magazine and touches on a number of controversial topics in the interview. Rihanna continues to talk about the impact the Jay- Z rumors had on her career and her relationship with Beyonce. Also discussed were her numerous tattoos, how she handled being pushed to the side in favor of Teairra Mari, and why her own countrymen seem to hate her so much. You can read a few snippets from the interview on the next page and check out Atlanta Peach’s website here.
Rihanna on where she likes to hang out in New York:
I like hanging out in tattoo shops. When I am in New York, after all the photo shoots and performances, when I should be resting, sometimes I get dressed and go to the tattoo parlors in SoHo and hang out. I am so intrigued by tattoos. It’s an entire culture, and I study it. Sometimes I go with friends or just by myself. I get bum-rushed, but I don’t care. I don’t take security.
Rihanna on the Jay-Z/Beyonce rumors:
The week I was signed, in Barbados, they blew it up in the newspaper, and the
catty people started saying that I had to have sex with Jay-Z in order to get my deal. I know Bajans, they always talk crap. They never like to see another Bajan succeed, no matter what. But [in America] it got out of hand when they started making a beef between me and Beyonce. Come on! Don’t you hear me speaking about how she is one of the people I look up to? In Europe, they asked, ‘Do you have his number in your phone?’ Of course, we work together! It’s crazy. I just have to let these rumors me.
Rihanna on why she wants to move to Atlanta:
I want to live in Atlanta, seriously. I love people from there [Atlan’s C. Tricky Stewart produced “Umbrella”]. There is just something about their spirits. I can have fun with them. If I could move there next week, I would. L.A. is cool, but I think I made the wrong decision.
Rihanna on what type of men she is attracted to:
I like bad guys. They have the most personality and make you laugh. I love that. I need to have a good time. Happiness is when I get off the phone and I am glowing. I want that person to be my light.
Rihanna on being forced to take a back seat to Teairra Mari at the beginning of her career: ![]()
That was a funny situation, but I always remained humble. I was not always treated in the best manor but I always remained who I was and I was always kind in the toughest of situations. I was just the little Caribbean girl. You have to be good to people. I could very easily say it’s all karma…God has favor on me and has blessed me, and I cannot even thank Him enough.
Rihanna on firing her marketing manager:
I felt like my girlie image was boring and contrived and generic. I was so restricted. I could not wear red lipstick. If I did I would get cursed out by my marketing person. I did a big performance on an awards show and I won some awards and was happy , but as soon as I got off the plane, I got the nastiest email from her about my looks. I then realized she was not treating me like a human being so I cut her off.
Rihanna on her new look:
As an entertainer, you put everyone else first, because you want to please everyone. Then you think, Am I happy? I knew I wanted to do something new with my look and my sound. I want to keep people intrigued. And [since] I was not being intrigued by myself, I knew other people were not. I am a free woman. Everything I couldn’t do before I do now. I cut my hair. I wear black. I wear red lipstick. I am doing all these things and it’s working. I decided to just be me, and I feel so liberated.

Rihanna is going to work those Jay rumors for all the publicity it’s worth. She has told us a million times they are false so please can we all move on with our lives. People with common sense knew better anyway. I swear folks need to stop reading Meadia Take Out which made up that rumor in the first place.
As for Tea-error Mari being put before her, can someone tell us when that happened? Tea-error got no publicity and her songs were terrible. I knew she wouldn’t last. Tea-error never had a hit while Rihanna had minor hits from the jump. She is just gloating now cause the girl who was called the Princess of R-O-C is gone and she is there. I see no humility in that at all and I highly doubt God chose her over Tea-error either. She need to put some clothes on before she start evoking the name of the Lord.

Her *** does not want to move to ATL. She always hollering about how much she loves LA.All of a sudden she wanna move down south. This chick don’t know what she want to be. She gets bum rushed yeah ok. Whatever ride the wave while it lasts. Why she keep dogging her country though, not cool cause I’m sure not everyone is badmouthing her but she is grouping them together so of course now they gonna hate.

Rihanna has become boring. She peaked our curiosity a few months ago with her new bad girl image and catchy song but all that is over with now. Her new songs and videos have tanked and seeing pics of her nekkid over and over again isn’t going to make anyone go out and buy the album. Nekkid is not interesting. I figured female singers would have learned that lesson by now. Keyshia Cole will sell more records than her and not take off any of her clothes.

not really a fan, but if people are going to drop numbers, they’d better get there facts straight! her second album went platinum and had three hits…unfaithful, break it off and sos! and i don’t see anything wrong with putting the rumor to rest yet again because there are some stupid people who still believe it! and i see no cockiness in the interview, just plain truth! would we rather her giggle her way through the interview and answer with silly stuff or rather her answer intelligently which she does! and keysia is taking off clothes my dear, check the publicity photos for the new album!

I’m indifferent when it comes to Rihanna. I don’t love her but I don’t hate the girl either. Therfore I say nothing bad about her. And let’s not forget that in an interview questions are being asked so if the person who is interviewing Rihanna asks her for the millionth time about the Jay-Z rumors then she has to answer for the millionth time. Apparently as one poster said people are still believing the rumors therefore she has the right to clear them up. She is still young but she comes across as articulate and as if she has common sense. Those two things alone goes a long way.

I think her new image is just as contrived as the previous one she had,to be honest. From sweet little island chick, to “rock” chick. Both seem like they were forced onto her by her label. I just think as an artist she’s not that interesting. She is a beautiful girl but she still lacks stage presence and vocally she’s not great. Maybe she’ll improve with age.

Black women have such nasty little mouths. You can’t even talk with cursing and then you all wonder why our men seek out women of other races who are more feminine and less angry.

I agree with Jo. I don’t buy her “bad girl” image. She tries to push it too hard. Rhianna has a good team supporting her, and she has the right look. Other than that, she is blah. She is right, she lucked up.

The only reason why Miss Teairra success flopped was because of her attitude plus the public wasn’t feeling her either, but I know Teairra because she is a good friend of my cousin. Her (teairra) attitude was really nasty and she wanted things all her way instead of listening to the people that was trying to help her. She also had un-resolved issues at home made her unfocused on her career. She’s coming back with an new album though under another label.
As far as Rihanna’s concern I think she has more spunk and alot more charisma. She’s into trying out new adventures and new looks while others stick with the same ole, same ole. Personally I think Teairra has a better voice, but it is Rihanna spirit that attracts audience from all races.
Jessica said: I highly doubt God chose her over Tea-error either.
Contrary to what Rihanna may think, I think God blesses somebody that works hard and trust in him. I believe God has something special for Te,Te but has to learn to to let him handle her situtation and start respecting other people he has places in her life. I don’t think God didn’t choose RiRi because she was too special.

Wow and how the way some black men talk and act, you think they find fault with a couple of curse words? LOL Give me a break! Now I know having a bad mouth is not lady-like and that goes for women of Every race. So I guess Britney Spears, Paris, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie are feminine and less angry then huh? Like I said before Wow. A mind is such a terrible thing to waste. Some black men date/marry a women (no matter what race) because they either like or love them and they both have something in common. While other black men seek out women from another race because they think the women are suckers that will put up with their mess. Sometimes it has something to do with self-hatred.
People like you is the reason why we are stereotyped. Now you going to let a couple of curse words dictate how black women are in general. People like you like to put others including your own in a box. Maybe your man has left you and ran off with a women of another race, is that why you made such a bold and untrue statement? As you can see I didn’t say black men in general I said some. I don’t put people in a box no matter what race they are. Everyone should be judged indivisually.
In conclusion think about what you type or say, so you won’t sound so common. Stop thinking you know every black person and everybody.

I heard Tierra Marie was pregnant or something so she couldn’t proceed. You can tell that her attitude stunk. I don’t know why, she is a cute girl but not cute enough to be acting a fool on your first record deal. Anyway, I think people are a little to hard on Rihanna. She is still young and kind of fresh and new. She has time to really take off. I really wish her the best. (But I don’t like that song, “Please don’t stop the music”) :noway:

Far as with Rhianna i applaud her as someone pointed just doing things different.Weather you like her or not you have to give her credit for that not doing the same Cookie cutter style.
For as Tierria Marie honestly never heard her music it really didn’t get much play here . what i did hear about her i know she was or with jay’z and suing her former management

Rihanna is doing her thang the best way she can. Every sista that comes out these days are compared to Beyonce so I guess Rihanna’s look had to be totally different. Short black cut as oppose to long blond locks/punk rock style as opposed to girly stripperish clothing. YOu have to look at the big picture. Its all about marketing. I personally bought KC, Ri, and TM first albums and compared them to each other (constructively). KC had the best voice and was more R&B is my favorite. Ri’s was a mix of island and R&B songs I like that as well because it separated her from everyone else plus I loved her long dark waves in Pon de Replay. TM has a really really good voice but besides the single ALL her songs were overproduced just painful to listen to. She could sing Ri under the table and imitate Beyonce but, her album sucks. All, in all we shouldn’t hate on the few black sistas in the industry. There is enough room for everyone. Don’t take these comments and personal issues so much to heart that you have to go on message board and show off just how insecure are by dissing these women who are doing SOMETHING with their lives; does it make you feel better about yourself?

MALCOLM platinum in the U S is 1 million unit sold, platiinum in EUROPE is 200 thousand unit sold, RIHANNA has not reach 1 million unit in three album. I support her whole heartly but she is only popular in HOLLYWOOD MEDIA for trying to steal JAYZ from BEYONCE. HOLLYWOOD is only about who is f—– who. EXAMPLE : ANGELINA JOLIC is on the cover of every white magizine because she stole BRAD PITT from JEN. MUSIC INDUSTRY is about sales only. BUSINESS IS BUSIESS

Just because YOU love Rihanna doesn’t mean someone else is hating. I like Rihanna, my cousin doesn’t like her. She also thinks she is trying to be Beyonce. I don’t see it. But, thats her opinion and I would never call her a hater because we have two different views. My cousin likes Beyonce, I am tired of seeing her. But I am not hating on her. I am just tired of seeing her.
“Black women have such nasty little mouths. You can’t even talk with cursing and then you all wonder why our men seek out women of other races who are more feminine and less angry.”
Men Period would sleep with anyone. But the Black men that seek out other races (if you are referring to white women) is because THEY USE THEM!!!! How many black women you know is going to let some man use her? White women take care of them finacially while they sit on their asses and play video games all day, or trying to become the next rapper. Get a job!! Why is it that most of the women who are suing a man on these court T.V. shows happen to be a white woman suing a black man? He claims it was a gift, she claims it was a loan. The truth is they use them for what they have and when they are done with them, and have finished getting what they want out of them, the woman obviously gets upset and wants to sue him. One of them even had two sisters arguing over money that was loaned to him. A black woman isn’t going to hesitate to tell him to get a job and HELP pay bills and put food on the table!! No one is going to take care of you until your so called Rap career takes off. TinaMiranda is correct. Its all a matter of self-hatred and they use them for suckers. Anyone with enough sense can see that.
Apparently you haven’t watched those girls gone wild commercials. Most of those women are white. Showing their breast for a T-shirt. Everytime a white person does something nobody notices. When a black person does the same thing we point a finger. Take a look at Paris Hilton, Linsday Lohan and all of those other girls. Drinking, driving drunk, partying all the time doing drugs and becoming alcoholics. All this money and you have nothing else to do with it. Is that due to anger or what? Self-hatred or what? Common be real. If they have all of these “opportunities” why are they destroying themselves? :iagree:

These lil girls are gettin more naked day by day…next thing you know yall well be livin back in the adam and eve days…lmao…what one will do to sell..not only music unfortunately…Real singers, like my girl Emily King, Teedra Moses, and my fave righ now Deemi need as much respect as these lil teeny boppers that cannot sing but only possess a look…well those ladies do as well but unlike them they dont need to be naked to gain an audience, they know its real ppl out in this big-2-small world that love to listen to real music about real issues…those who actually lived it and represents it. The rihannaz and cassies are for the lil girls but then again, hell my lil girl I would not allow to listen to a girl who WANTS and TRIES TO portray herself as a good girl gone bad. What a lost generation im in…but fortunately I chose not to blend in.
