Rihanna Covers i-D Magazine’s Music Issue

RIHANNA COVERS I-D MAGAZINE 2015 MUSIC ISSUE (1)

With her new single “Four Five Seconds” heating up iTunes’ digital downloads chart, is it any wonder i-D magazine chose Rihanna to be the cover girl for their 2015 music issue.

Rihanna’s cover shoot took place in Paris last month and was reportedly styled by the singer herself. I’m not sure what look the pop diva was going for, but to my eyes she’s clearly mimicking the look you see a lot of incarcerated Mexican men sporting.

Rihanna once dressed as a Chola, so I know I’m not too far off. The cover shot is a mugshot and I suspect when photos from the inside photo shoot are released, I will be proven right.

In the meantime, click on the thumbnail above to see the full photo, and if you haven’t already, do hit up iTunes or Amazon to download the singer’s new single.

I thought the same thing when I saw the photo. Cultural appropriation isn’t cute when white people do it and it isn’t cute here.

  2. I noticed that the minute I saw the cover. Someone said she was copying FKA Twigs, but I was like nope she trying to be a Mexican gangster. Whatever floats her board I guess. Gotta keep people talking somehow.
