Rihanna has landed her next movie role.
According to Luc Besson, the 27-year old pop diva has joined the cast of his upcoming film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
Via his Instagram account, Besson had this to say about the singer’s casting: “Rihanna is a Valerian, and she has a really big part. I am so excited.”
RiRi joins a cast that already includes Dane DeHann (The Amazing Spiderman 2), Clive Owen (The Bourne Identify) and model Cara Delevingne (Paper Towns).
Rihanna’s previous big screen experience includes a supporting role in the 2012 film Battleship and the 2014 animated film, Home, where she voiced the character of Tip.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets unfolds in the 28th century when humans have discovered time travel, and is an adaptation of the Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières graphic novel Valerian.
The film begins shooting next year, and has an expected release date of 2017.
