It’s a guaranteed money maker. Cheap clothes made in third world countries sold in this country for 10 times what it cost to actually make them, and you see why so many celebs are hot to do this. I say good for her though. Artists have to branch out these days in order to make money and this is just another way for Rihanna to add to her the bottom line.

Artists like Rihanna have to find other means to make money besides there music because they do not write their own music. Ne Yo and the other writers and producers are the ones making money from her music not her. She had to tour and do endorsements to see money from all the work she does.

WHY Lord??!! Not another celebrity clothing line!! If the time and money celebs put into new clothing lines these days could be put towards poverty, education {mainly HBCU’s} & the AIDS/HIV epidemic… then we’d be going somehwere but everybody is falling for the okie-doke….

—Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, describes a world thoroughly flooded with information. But that data is manipulated so that none of it has any significance.

I love Ri Ri, she’s a pretty girl and I do like her style.

The clothing line is the safest venture I guess. They have fans and they’re fans are probably into their style and would like to wear what they wear is my guess.

How successful are these artists with clothing lines. I mean Diddy is the only one outside of maybe Russel who sold his who’s had a profitable and successful clothing line, he’s on another level with his. Oh and maybe Nelly but I can’t think of anybody esle???

She’s looking badass in those photos, especially the first. Clothing lines are an “iffy” thing, but I will say I can definitely see her having one more than a ton of other people. She has a style, and rarely is she not wearing something fashionable and edgy. I might actually take a look at her stuff, despite the fact that I hate how the U.S. takes advantage of these poor people overseas. Best of luck to her, and I’ll be at least keeping an eye out for her line.

I like looking at all the higher end stuff, but there’s time for that when I’m successful and can truly afford it. Off-topic, what’s the deal with fake stuff? What’s the point if you know it’s not real? Some of my family buys knock-offs and I can’t figure it out.

Let’s be real. She won’t be designing the clothes, she will be the face of the line. I have to admit celebrity clothing lines are a slap in the face of every fashion design student and graduate. But I guess, they are the ones working for these clothing lines, but it’s not their faces or names connected with the designs. I understand that artists need to expand themselves, but I rather hear about them doing things in the community rather than another clothing, jewelry, sunglasses line, etc.

Look at the opportunities Black women have today. Once upon a time we were the last to be offered the chance to do anything and now we are the first. Black women are doing things now only White women were once allowed do and we are taking it to the next level totally blowing out anything ever done before us. No one can do it like we do and sistas today are proving that. I love to see us getting the chance to spread our wings and fly.

    FLY HIGH Rihanna. FLY HIGH.

We all know Rihanna won’t design the line but she can have input and from what she says on the video, she plans to. She said she was gonna take her time to make sure it is what she wants. I wish I could start a line cause regardless of the quality you are gonna make millions of dollars from your name alone.

@JBL thats some of the dumbest **** i’ve heard in a long time. did Whitney wrote any of her music? does Celine dion writes her song name all the diva from the past go back and check to see how many of the wrote their own songs. How many Motown artist wrote there own songs it was Smokey, ashford and Simpson + few others who wrote the songs. with downloading very few artist make money of selling cd. Rihanna will make money ,because she went platinum in the U.S and almost 3X Platinum overseas. she’s been touring overseas since last fall getting paid in Euros. the Euros is way stronger than the US dollar. the girl get paid 500,000 for 40 minute work. She sold out Arenas across Europe not small clubs.

Malcom, did you go off your meds or something? You basically said what I said. No writing Rihanna has to tour and do other things to make money because she is not getting paid via her actual records sales. This is a well known fact in the industry and has been for many of years. Duh why don’t you?

I’m so darn tired of these celebreties and their clothing lines, why don’t more black people start investing in real estate, electronics or franchised businesses. That’s where the long term money is. Snoop Dog, J-Lo, Outcast, G-Unit, House of Derion have all failed or are on the break of failing.

And quite frankly I don’t buy any of their tacky high priced mess, hell I shop at J.C. Penney’s

I didn’t know people would hate it THAT much. Gwen Stefani is rocking a fashion line, and doing well. Heck, even Justin is selling jeans. Eve too, and she doesn’t even have the following of Rihanna right now. Obviously she’s not going to turn the fashion world upside down, but it’s something for her. I hope one day she can pull off some Angelina-style charity work and be selfless, but I can’t see her having the funds. I think she’s well off, but could easily, EASILY be broke in less than five years. No doubt her management and RC take a great deal of what she makes. She is but the actress in their film called her career.

Anyway, I was seeing less Urban and more Wet Seal style stuff for her. If it’s Urban, I’m probably going to say No. Too much glitter killed the Fashionista.

Firstly i would say like to say i don’t dislike Rhi rhi… but i have to say i agree with the “stars and their fashion lines” being played out”…who cares?! what happened to people rocking their own style instead of inmitating/following what some stylised star said is “their” style?…and please ladies let us remember that rihanna has a stylist SOMEONE else who more or less gives/gave her the look she has now which has now influenced her…she is working it for sure but lets not give her too much credit she is as manufactured as you can get but as some one else said being cute is more necessary than actual talent…and speaking as a sista from London i can tell you her style is not that unique and a lot of females have been rocking her style on the streets for a while now BEFORE she did…not hatin just saying! lol…but on the plus side if she can do it do it…cause as much as i’m talking if i was given the opportunity i would hustle the hell out it lol :0)xx

I find it disheartening when we as sistas knock another’s hustle. She see it as a tried and true way to make money. If she wants to do that and sees that the industry is lacking, then I say we should all support her. If you have nothing positive to say about it, then say nothing and continue to do what you are doing…nothing.

Well out of all of the young ladies that are out now she is the most fashionable so I can see that. She is always looking very stylish. Not in that over done way like so many of the female entertainers hers is natural. She will only get better with age.

We live in a capitalistic society…the economy isn’t doing well. Because we are in a recession everyone needs a side hustle. If one job fails at least there is another one to fall back on.

    Tilly,

You are right, Im not blasting Americans, but SOME dont have a clue that Rihanna’s so called “look” has been around for a while. Im from Montreal, Canada and there are many women with this style here, as much as women who rock the hoodrat style too. But sadly the hoodrat style with the logos and short bubble jackets have taken over. When I look at Rihanna I see the combined style of Victoria Beckham, Agyness Denn, Kelly Osborne and FeFe Dobson- All non Americans!
