Pop diva Rihanna is set to return to the stage. The singer, who had to cancel her Grammy performance this year because of the altercation with Chris Brown, will make her return on May 28th in Dubai. According to Mary Rachelle Cherpak, a spokesperson for Dubai tourism, 25,000 tickets will be made available and though there is no set location for the performance, Cherpak says “Normally they create a special stage in the desert for these types of events.” Rihanna is said to be wasting no time getting back to work and is reportedly right on schedule with the recording of her latest cd, which is due to be released later on this year.

I’m glad to see her with family. When things are rough for me, my family are the people I want to be around. She looks happy b/c she doesn’t smile that much normally.
She might as well take advantage of all this free publicity and put an album out soon. I’m tired of hearng the same songs on the radio. I’d like to hear new stuff this summer. I hope as many artists as possible come out with good music and battle it out for the top spot. I remember times in the 80s and 90s when there were tons of good songs out. I would listen to the radio all day long. Now I can’t even stomach the radio longer than 15 minutes. I know the top 10 songs by heart b/c they are in constant rotation. There’s no need for me to bu the music cause I know i”ll hear the song twice on the way to work and twice on the way home. LOL.
I know everybody has an opinion about RiRi. I think I complained about over-exposure once or twice, but after I thought about this chris brown drama, I’ve been waiting for her to bounce back. There are a lot of non-black entertainers that are over-exposed. I kinda liked having a black woman being the talk of the entertainment and fashion industries. Musicians are not the best role models, but I must say that I was proud of Beyonce, RiRi, Halle, Latifah, Tyra, Kerry W., etc. with all that they’ve been doing lately. im a fan of rihanna but one thing she HAS to work on is her performances, her voice isnt that great but her songs are always catchy which is a good thing, you dont have to be able to sing great to be a great performer like janet and ciara but she need to at least work on how she performs and then people would be excited about sing her live her songs along do extremely well without promotion and performances, imagine if she got her stage presence together…wow…

She is a hard working girl, just because she doesn’t run on stage and shakes her body, hair, dress, whatever, or has 100 dancers or …. that doesn’t mean she doesn’t work hard. She has sold millions of albums, you cannot say someone who doesn’t work hard can do that.
And for those who say that the concert is in Dubai so it’s not impressive, well, do you at least know that Dubai organizes concerts every summer where they invite world known artists to perform. No matter how much people like it or not Rihanna is successful to have only been in the game 3 1/2 years, she is tied with another artist for having the most #1’s this decade and she is releasing new material soon which may take her to #1 again. I dont care if they re released GGGB 16 million times people still purchased it and it sold a total of 12 million albums worldwide without promotion, tv, and so on. Also not to mention she was headlining her own tour but had to stop because of CB incident.
Rihanna did not have only 2k in the bank, it was a rumor from a fired staff member….and that same week she was spotted on a shopping spree. All the women in entertainment is making money, some arent that greedy to just do it for the money and accolades.
People keep goin on about how pretty she is and stuff and thats why people are buyin her records, but the majority of female artists out there are pretty. And if they aren’t pretty, then those make up artists will do the best with what they’ve got! But this isn’t the only reason she’s doing well, her songs are very catchy, whether u like them or not, u’ve probably had ‘disturbia’ or ‘umbrella’ stuck in your head at one point. My friends say shes a potential supermodel with average singing and dancing skills. Whether I agree with that or not, I’m not sure!
Despite what critics say about her, shes done a lot. I think she’s OK, I’m not a HUGE fan but I do have her albums and the girl has done well for herself. I do think the record companies kinda market her like a product, kind of in the same way as Britney. For example, her looks and style are a huge focus. If they wanted her to be an artist known for credibility, they would not rush her album releases so much. Shes been around since 2005 with three albums already, and one on the way at some point this year! Whereas in comparison to people like Mary J Blige, in the fourth year of her career, she had released two albums and was in the process of making her third. I wish the best for her, and hope all this Chris Brown stuff doesn’t overshadow what shes doing with her career. It’ll be a good thing for her to get out there and continue performing, sort of takes her personal life out of the spotlight for a while.

I don’t know where you are getting the notion that Beyonce doesn’t sell CD’s. She has put out 3 solo CD’s and all three have gone multi-Platinum in the USA and Worldwide! Heck, I Am Sasha Fierce is over 2Million in the USA and 3.5 Million Worldwide in 14 weeks! Personally, I like Beyonce voice better than Alicia, but that’s just my personal opinion!

Virgo… did you just put Britney in that category of artists who don’t fade because of their immense talent.. The last time Britney sang live was probably when she kissed Madonna. There was a recording of her practising singing ‘Boys’ for her concert recently … and that’s the reason why she doesn’t sing live. That being said I loved most of the songs off her past two albums. I suppose if Rihanna’s concerts had more aesthetic visuals and with good dancing, then it’d improve it.
rihanna may not be the strongest live performer, but no one who is not a hater, can honestly say that she don’t put out hits. Most of the songs rihanna releases does great on the radio, and helps her sell lots of records. I think people are giving the girl a hard time when she is contributing positively to the music scene.
