Rutina Wesley Joins the Third Season of ‘Hannibal’

Reba McClane Hannibal (1)

Former “True Blood” star Rutina Wesley is joining season three of NBC’s psychological thriller “Hannibal,” taking on the role of Reba McClane, a blind woman who catches the eye of Francis Dolarhyde, better known as the Tooth Fairy, a serial killer who really likes to sink his teeth into his victims.

Reba’s romance with Dolarhyde is major component of the Thomas Harris novel “Red Dragon,” just one of the books in which “Hannibal” is based on, and is expected to be given the same significance during season three, notching a reported seven episode arc for both Wesley and Richard Armitrage, the actor hired to play the role of Dolarhyde.

This will mark Rutina’s first major TV role since she wrapped up her seven year stint as Tara Thornton on HBO’s hit vampire series “True Blood.”

“Hannibal” in the meantime is set to return to air sometime this summer.

  1. “seven episode arc for both Wesley and Richard Armitrage” — awesome! Love Rutina. Glad to see her moving on from True Blood. Guess I should rent season 1 of Hannibal to catch up, huh? 🙂
