According to Billboard.com, Sade is back in the studio and working on new material. After a near ten year hiatus, the reclusive singer who is known to take notoriously long breaks between albums, has regrouped with the band that bears her names and is hoping to release a new album sometime this year. Last week, rumors of a new Sade album surfaced when the official-looking website sade2009.com went live with a message claiming a release date of November 24 for a new album. The source at Sade’s label denied any connection to that site.
“We do not know where that fan site could have got that release date from, but it is 100 percent not true.”
Billboard contacted the site’s owner, who insisted that the release date was “official.” Since his response, however, the site’s posting has been updated with a correction: “The date above has been changed, a representative from Sony confirmed the new date to be unknown. Please check back for the update on Sade’s album release.”
No details about Sade’s new music have yet been revealed, but one artist may already have heard snippets: Maxwell, a fellow Sony recording artist and longtime friend and collaborator with Matthewman, who will soon release a new record of his own after a multiyear hiatus. The R&B singer sent a message to fans in March via his private Facebook page in which he indicated that he’d heard some of his labelmate’s new recordings. “Trust me, it’s so monolithic it’ll shake you in your shoes!” he wrote.
Sade’s 2000 release, “Lovers Rock,” sold 3.9 million copies in the U.S., and her previous album, 1992’s “Love Deluxe,” sold 3.4 million. Since her 1985 debut, “Diamond Life,” Sade has sold nearly 17 million units in the U.S. alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

This is such amazing news. Sade is a rare breed or artist. Her fan base is so loyal and her record label so behind her that even after nine years they are excited to have her back. I told yall this new music is so whack that they are going to find old school artisist and letting them write their own ticket just to get some good music back in to the game. Look at Maxwell so cold he didn’t even come out with a single nor a cd and went on tour and sold out after eight years. There is no one out now in the pop world that can do that. Now when you get into the soul world Jill Scott, Eryka Badu, and India Arie, Angie Stone, and the whole likes of them do not have a hit record and can sell out a genre.
I am so glad Sade and Whitney is coming back out with music and I am going to buy Vanessa Williams new cd today. There is great music out here by brown sisters and I am excited about it. Even if they are not the one’s who makes the blogs all the time.
I also left out Kem and Kindred Soul it was not intentional. And I wish both of them would come out with their cd’s and Lala Hathaway and Ledisi and Vivian Green. It was not my intentions to leave them out. They are just as cold.

Sade is THE ARTIST, I can listen to Lovers Rock, all day and night, and never ever grow tired of it. She is simply Sade, the legend, the lady, the extraordinaire. She is in a league of her own. She is neosoul. Her music is from the heart. Love her. I will definitely buy this album.
I truly believe that real music is coming back, because it has too. The industry has been bombarded with gimmicks, schemes, untalented people who make a mockery of music, nothing is new anymore, it’s all sample this , sample that. There is no creativity. No real talent. You have a satuartion of Gangsta Rap, with rappers dressed like prisoners, you have R&B singers acting like strippers , there is no real talent. For the life of me, I can’t stand the fact that everyone wants to be Janet. Noone is Janet. Janet is Janet. R&B groups want to be rappers. I’m sorry, but I don’t need to see singers looking like thug rappers, songs mostly synthesize because the lable know they can’t sing. And looking at pubesent little boys singing about animalistic sex, instead of making love to a woman mind body and soul.

I love Folasade “Sade” Adu and her band so much,…their music is healing and soothing …..maxwell just rocks my boat,i enjoy pop music and ish but when i’m being me and just true to my spirit neo-soul,afro jazz and brazilian jazz is my soul food…..i also love the African-American church style old rnb like Aretha and Ray Charles thats great music.

Just decided if I am going to make my dreams come true then I MUST eliminate all frivolous activity from my life. Sade is such a lady. I love her aura, her mysterious persona. She is an artist, and for the most part the only thing that we know about her, is that Sade is a great artist, puts out the most soothing music, and her private life stays private. True artists don’t need controversy, gimmicks to sell records.

My parents use to speak about alot of different artisist and my grand dad did too and I didn’t have a clue as to whom they were speaking about so I just took it upon myself to investigate those artisist and you know what I was just introduced to a history of music that I still listen to to this day. So just because you weren’t born does not mean that you can’t educate yourself on who these people are. You might find yourself never listening to the radio again. There was some great music being played in the 70’s, 80’s, and up until mid 90’s. You may have a cultural shock at first because the music is extremely coherent and it’s not disrespectful. You don’t feel like you need a shower after you listen to it. You won’t find a million re-mixes of the songs because they got them right the first time around usually. And you will find that there was no fixing up of someone’s voice. I would recommend you start off with Angela Bofill and work your way through some great music.
Bee I have a lil’ problem with part of your response because in my age you assume that I listen to ONLY the most crazy, ridiculous things to be put on wax. While you’re right I could have investigated myself I must say I didn’t have much interest to look into her off of Sweetest Taboo though I did resally like the song. But that’s ok and I forgive you because you’ve never lived with me and met me a day in your life. I don’t listen to Gucci Mane, I don’t listen to OJ Da Juice or any other mane’s or juice’s. Just…..never really listened to Sade past that one song. However….. I listened to a mix of everything else growing up…. go-go (i’m from DC if you miss it in the sn)….. oldies r&b or soul, gospel and yes even rap and maybe a kiss of rock or jazz and get this a lil’ classical too. Sade was never my mom’a thing either ans she was born in 1960 or my grammy’s who was born in 1941 or my step-dad who was born in 1951. No one listened to Sade and other being ignorat to her music career other than one song…i’m all over the board on my music tastes already thanks. Another thing while coming at me quite harsh and i’m amazed because it’s filled so many assumptions lol I HAVE NOT and I repeat NOT listened to the radio VOLUNTARILY in 6 1/2 yrs.
