Sanaa Lathan Covers Jewel Magazine

Sanaa Lathan Actress Sanaa Lathan is thankful for everything she has. But that’s not stopping her from working hard to get even more. One of the perks of interviewing Sanaa Lathan is that you don’t always know what she’s going to say, but you kind of know what you’re in for. And that is a really engaging conversation with a woman who exemplifies a plethora of “C” words. Cool. Calm. Considerate. Clever. Conscientious. Committed. Constructive. Certain. Chic. Conversant. Courageous. Crazy. Confident. Colorful. Contempla-tive. Creative. Compassionate. Complex. Courteous. Credible. Plus at least one word that doesn’t start with the third letter in the alphabet. “Sexy,” adds Blair Underwood, who played Lathan’s rebound love interest in the 2006 romantic comedy Something New.

“She’s very easy on the eyes.” Lathan is also so earthy that interviewing her never quite feels like work. It’s more like sitting down and dishing with an old girlfriend you haven’t seen in a while. There’s something undeniably relatable about her. She seems like one of those celebrities who actually does check her ego with the valet. And there’s also pretty solid evidence that she’s one of the ones who understand that the moon and stars don’t necessarily revolve around her 24/7.Or it could be that people are drawn to Lathan because the girl has a knack for picking just the right spots for interviews. That was certainly the case when I meet up with Lathan at a small, unpre-tentious tea café on Sunset Boulevard where she can eat and spill in peace.

  1. Sanaa is one of my favorite actresses. She seems like the type of person you would like to hang out with. I loved her in “They Family That Preys” I didnt’ expect for her to be like that. At least in this movie I didn’t want to hang with her. I would have knocked her out, which ended up happening. Not going to say anymore if anyone haven’t seen the movie yet. But I love Sanaa!

  2. She is a very underrated actress. That is what she is, an actress and a good one at that.

  3. She’s a very lovely lady. I liked her acting in the TV version of “A Raisin in the Sun” that also starred Diddy and Phylicia Rashad. Me and my wife are going to see “The Family That Preys” this weekend.
Speaking of this weekend, don’t forget to see the debate on friday evening between Obama and McCain. I wanna see what that circus clown McCain has to say about this Wall Street mess that he helped get us into. Back in 1999, as a senator, he voted for the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. This act was designed to remove the safeguards that stopped the banks and Wall Street from doing highly risky things with money. With those safeguards removed, now the banks and Wall Street began loaning out money to even the man in the moon. And when all the borrowers couldn’t repay the money, houses started to be repossessed, other loans went into default, the whole money system is now falling apart. It’s gonna cost about 3/4 of a trillion dollars to fix it. That’s 3/4 of a trillion of your money, Sanaa Lathan’s money, Ms. Stephanie’s money, my money. But look, I’m getting way ahead of myself right now. If any one wants me to explain this money mess, please let me know and I’ll be glad to do it. Y’all have a very blessed day.

  4. After seeing The Family That Preys, Sanaa easily became one of my favorite actresses! She has great style too and I wish her nothing but the best!

  5. Aww! She looks beautiful.

She killin’ it in the lil’ freakum dress. I didn’t know Miss Latham was that fine 😀
    GET ‘EM GIRL!! 😆

  6. She is such a beautiful girl and has a matching spirit. I would love to meet her one day!

  7. I like Sanaa because she never seems like she’s pretending to be someone else. She has a down to earth type of personality that compliments her physical beauty. A lot of black women in the entertainment industry should take notes from her.

  8. she is fierce!!!! and a darn good actress!!!! i really enjoyed her in the tyler perry film.

  9. lovesssss her my favorite movie with her as of right now is something new..i haven’t seen family that preys yet

  11. Luv that freakum dress for sure.

Off topic: Smooth Thug, thnkx for the knowledge drop. BTW – breaking news McCain suspends presidential campaign – including this Friday’s debate – to got to Washtington and help work out the bail out for the welfare kings.

Now is it just me, or does anyone else think that maybe he does not want to face those tough questions about the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, ‘Keating 5’ and other items related to his hand in this economic melt-down?

  12. In my opinion, she is the most beautiful actress out there. She has a natural beauty that alot of other celebs dont have. Yes she has great skin and features but its more than that. You always see confidence mixed with vulnerability. She just seems like a real person.

  13. Off Topic: When will people realize that as long as America continue to play by the old rules of a tired old game, we will always fail. Back in the 1920’s an intelligent black man created what was called, “Black Wall Street””. And it was a success. I know this isn’t directly related to the issue of what America is facing today, but when we look at where we are today, America has noone to blame for themselves. As long as America continue with the idiococy of racism, they will never prosper financially, intellectually as they should. It’s amazing how , if Corporate America, Wall Street, Government would stop banning Afirmative Action, equal rights inititatives, equal educational opportunities, than a black boy or girl could have been the person that would have been able to create an idea that would have prevented this chaos that our politicians and Wall Street has gotten us into. But, because of greed and fear of another race taking over, America is paying the price. And this is why Obama is having such a hard time winning over some white votes, because of fear a black man may do something better than a white man. That is why Charles Drew the medical genius, died because of white medical personnel didn’t want to treat him, now if they would have set aside their prejudices, he could have survived and possibly found a cure for a major disease, or possibly create improved methods for working with blood.

Sorry for the rant, but we have to look at this whole economic mess, in a historical perspective, if this government wasn’t so bent on keeping everything systmatically all-white, a nonwhite person could have solved this problem.

  14. i SO want to read it! and for some reason, all across the flippin red city I cant find one issue. Not even n the bookstores. But of course my generation has come to adore ms Lathan if for nothing else but on the strength of Love and Basketball alone…now and oldie but goodie!

  15. Looking forward to seeing her new movie. I knew it was time for Tyler to snatch her up in a movie…He’s keeping all of black hollywood employed…..

  16. What a beautiful Classy Sister
I love Her movies, and her acting skills. The cover is just beautiful
    We are gorgeous yall!!

  17. now here’s a young lady that doesnt get celebrated enough not only is she a fabulous actress, she’s beautiful, intellegent and down to earth. my kinda star…relatable…the type i can envy and like with absolutely no guilt. Love her!

  18. Love Sanaa in all her movies she is one actress that has depth and range when it comes to her craft.

  19. Sanna was great in this movie. She showed that she can play vasely different roles. I do think she is very under rated in Hollywood because of her race. Just keep holding on to your faith Sanaa, and you will get everything you desire. The bible says that, “When you delight yourself in the Lord he will grant you the desires of your heart.”

  20. I think a sequel would be nice. Maybe making Andrea nicer, or maybe not. Somebody needs to run this by Tyler Perry. The only sequels he does is Madea movies. Which I enjoy very much. Think about it TP. Everybody loved “The Family That Preys”.

  21. I love Sanaa Lathan. She is the black version of what Elizabeth Talor used to be back in the day. She has stlye, taste and graceful beauty. She is very down to earth. Wale is a is the world`s most luckiest man, i don`t know what he is waiting on to pop the question. She is GOD`s daughter. Do your thing sanaa. Your role in The family that Preys did some to my soul. I had to go out and buy all you movies. I`m your fan for life. I hope to meet her one day in my lifetime. May God continue to bless her!

  22. When is Sanaa’s movie “A Wonderful World” coming out? Ithink it will be nice to see her playing sweet role again. Although , I loved her in “The Family That Preys”. She is a great actress and a beautiful person. So, is she engaged?
