Sanaa Lathan to Star in Fox Event Series “Shots Fired”

SANAA LATHAN TO STAR IN SHOTS FIRED ON FOXSanaa Lathan’s upcoming Fox event series officially has an air date and a name. Shots Fired will follow the dramatic events of a racially charged shooting of a white teen by a black police officer in a small town in Tennessee. The series is written and produced by Gina Prince-Bythewood and her husband Reggie Rock Bythewood.

Via press release, David Madden, the President of Entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, said “Gina and Reggie have crafted a profoundly moving portrayal of a timely and sensitive issue that pervades our culture at this very moment. This is not only an important story to tell, but also an explosive mystery-thriller.”

Shots Fired was previously titled The Incident and will star Sanaa an an expert investigator sent by the Justice Department to look into the shooting. Along with a special prosector, the pair will have to navigate public scrutiny and civil unrest to seek justice for all involved.

Filming on the series has already begun in Atlanta. Fox plans to air the series in the spring of 2016.
