Beharie, 28, best known for her breakout role in 2008’s “American Violet,” is starring in
Fox’s upcoming sure hit “Sleepy Hollow.”
Developed by the creators of “Fringe,” ‘Hollow’ is the modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”
The updated version finds Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman resurrected to do battle in modern-day Sleepy Hollow… with the fate of the world naturally at stake. Beharie will play Lieutenant Abbie Mills, who teams up with Crane to fight the Horseman and his ever present axe.
When “Sleepy Hollow” debuts tonight, Beharie will join a growing list of African American actresses with lead roles on primetime television.
Beharie recently spoke about her accomplishment while promoting “Sleepy Hollow” at Comic Con, saying she was “honored” to be joining the likes of Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Taraji P. Henson (Person of Interest).
“Sleepy Hollow” will debut on September 16th at 9/8c and co-stars Tom Mison, Orlando Jones and Katia Winter.
