SLEEPYHOLLOW2

Actress Nicole Beharie is finally poised to become Hollywood’s next “It Girl.”

Beharie, 28, best known for her breakout role in 2008’s “American Violet,” is starring in
Fox’s upcoming sure hit “Sleepy Hollow.”

Developed by the creators of “Fringe,” ‘Hollow’ is the modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”

The updated version finds Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman resurrected to do battle in modern-day Sleepy Hollow… with the fate of the world naturally at stake. Beharie will play Lieutenant Abbie Mills, who teams up with Crane to fight the Horseman and his ever present axe.

When “Sleepy Hollow” debuts tonight, Beharie will join a growing list of African American actresses with lead roles on primetime television.

Beharie recently spoke about her accomplishment while promoting “Sleepy Hollow” at Comic Con, saying she was “honored” to be joining the likes of Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Taraji P. Henson (Person of Interest).

“Sleepy Hollow” will debut on September 16th at 9/8c and co-stars Tom Mison, Orlando Jones and Katia Winter.

  1. I always loved this story. The Disney cartoon scared the hoo-ha out of me as a child, yet I remained intrigued by it. In the age of vampires, werewolves and comic book heroes, it’s nice to see yet another classic literature character adapted to present day. I hope the show is good. I’ll be watching!

  2. absolutely watching this tonight for so many reasons. I hope its good and it sticks.

more ethnic people in lead roles. but I will only support it if its actually good

  3. I hope she is actually the star of the show and is not a repeat of “Deception “

  4. Well alright! =)

But we won’t truly make progress until a black man and a black woman can star opposite each other in a major film or televisions series (personally, I haven’t seen that since the Cosby Show). I’m just saying. Must we “always” be accessorized with nonblack folk?

  5. The Cosby Show and A Different World was everything on Thursday Nights

  6. This is the year, so much in going on in the entertainment industry and especially on TV. I think she’s a very talented actress and happy that she snag this role! I look forward to seeing it!

  7. Sleepy Hollow won the night and its time slot bringing in 10.1 million viewers, the highest Fox debut in six years.

Next week however will be the real test. A lot of shows debut strong because ppl tune in to see if they’ll like it. If they don’t they quickly tune out in week 2.

I hope the ratings stay strong. I’m rooting for Nicole.
