So, What Has Eve Been Up To Lately?

posted by Sista on November 20th, 2008 at 2:47 am

From New York to Los Angeles, rapper Eve has been all over the red carpet lately, However, one event missing from her busy schedule is the album release party for her fourth CD, Here I Am. More than a year after the self described Pitful In A Skirt’s first single hit the airwaves, the album is still in limbo. Like Ciara, Eve’s first single, Tambourine, did not become an instantaneous hit. A second single, Give It To You, was eventually released and that too failed to catch on at radio stations. So why not just release the album anyway and see what the fans response would be? Well according to EW, Eve is simply suffering at the hands of her record label (Interscope) and it’s chief.

The rapper now joins the list of several other high profile women who have had their albums pushed back into oblivion. Said list includes, Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls, Keri Hilson and teen rapper Teyana Taylor.

So what’s next for the rapper seeing as how her music career is stalled? Movies, of course. Eve has revealed that she recently finished principle shooting on Drew Barrymore’s new film, Whip It!. She is also in the middle of shooting another film, Ego. Both films are due to be released in 2009.

In the meantime, check out a new photo shoot of the raptress below.

  1. hmmmm idk if I like that lipstick on her…

  2. I like Eve and I want female hip-hop to make a comeback! :brownsista:

  3. Woop... I hate haters, does that make me a hater..?

I like Eve too. Tambourine was a banger :booty: and I paid for that
She should keep doing what she’s doing. She was in Flashbacks of a fool with Daniel Craig which was pretty good. I know Black women are hair crazy and sometimes it gets on my nerves but I have to say… she is one of the few women who can wear honeyblonde and still look cold.

Btw BrownSista.. is a raptress a word, i’ve been lookin at it for ages.

  4. Poor Eve. I didn’t know it had been a year since Tambourine. Dang.

    Lola, is that you??

  5. I miss eve too. I love her clothing line fetish. She probably want to take her time with it and put out some good music. Not just put out anything like alot of these artist are doing. But yes Tambourine was that you know what. But when she comes out she going to do the damn thing. i be waiting for that. GO EVE

  6. Lipstick looks good on her. So many careers have fallen b/c of record label issues. It makes people think that its some thing the artist is doing. Any way, all the best for Eve…….just don’t make another TV Show.

  7. She looks aright, but that song she did with Queen Latifa I like alot. They showed the making of it on VH1 last night. HOTT!

  8. I think she was wise to branch out into other fields. She acts, does fashion, etc. I like how she did not come out like Lil’ Kim and Foxy did back in the day. Her songs did have a message.

  9. I am pulling for EVE because she is not only a good rapper, but a good actress. I wish her well. I love the photos.

  10. Eve looks great. I’m loving the black dress and the killer two tone heels.

  11. Blame it on tha Rain

Thnx Stephanie for posting this. I of course waited & waited for Eve’s album to be released. On the day that the album was supposed be released I called a few stores to see if the album was in stock & I remeber the clerks knew nothin of any new Eve albums to be coming out that day. I knew then that the sumthin was up. I thought that both “Tamborine” & “Give it 2 ya” were great singles. Unfortunately the record label didn’t think so. I am glad that Eve can find work in other areas & be a success. But I would really like to hear that album… but the way it’s going I guess that won’t be happening.

  12. What has happened to female rappers?
They are pretty much extinct in the industry! Its crazy, I was listening to a song the other day, i thnk it was a brandy remix featuring queen latifah and mc lyte. I was like wow, these days there are no female rappers on the charts! Its sad!

    Record labels are a ******

  13. i didnt know tambourine didnt do well? where im from it was all over the radio and in clubs i use to love to shake my :booty: to that song LOL! i never heard that second single though….i love eve and her music is always hot…i miss lil kim too i need another jump off!

  14. @ Nia

NO!!!! That is the fab Miss Rihanna!

  15. I’m a big fan of Eve’s music. That’s really sad for her and the other of talented sistas out there. Tambourine is my song, I’m still playing that. I’m not to crazy about blonde hair on Black women, but it looks good on Eve.

  16. Are they even promoting her hard enough? She’ll need a team like Beyonce’s.

  17. Oh, I see… Interscope. The photographer couldv’e done more with these photos. To me this looks like a boring photo shoot. That’s why her album is being pushed back- she doesn’t have the right team. Eve is talented and I’ve always liked her. I just don’t want to see her go down the drain.

  18. Eve is beautiful. I love her.

  19. @ Woop…” ”

I agree that Miss Eve sports the blonde hue very well!

It’s unfortunate for these artist that have to sit back and watch their music career come to a stop because of their record labels but in a lot of cases, it’s the smartest thing for the record label to do instead of putting out all this money for studio sessions, promotions and tours and not get that money back due to the artist losing fans and not being as hot as they once were.

This should be an eye-opener for a lot these artist that you’ve GOTS to bring something original & special cause that’s what fans want these days…. no longer is the “cookie cutter artist” allowed. Times are hard and ppl just ain’t spending all willy nilly anymore

  20. Dark Sista Is expecting twins Again

Never could stomach blond hair on a sister,Maybe i’ m too closed minded  But no, nevertheless I love Eve  :brownsista: and that hot pink lipstick is the business

    Hi Zephora :hifive:

  22. Here is a link to Interscope Records that contains their physical address. Let’s start a campaign via letters, phone and email to set Eve’s music free.

  23. I dont like eve

  24. aw Eve… we miss you girl! I want her album to drop, she’s always been a good force in the world of female hip hop and I really wish these record labels would stop holding their artists hostage. It’s ridiculous already…

  26. I actually dont believe this climate is appropriate for Eve to drop, so in all honesty i believe that it is a good move for her album to be pushed back. As much as they have tried to re-introduce her into the mainstream it hasnt been successful enough to follow up with an album. It would only fail.

It might just be time for her to hang it up. Its not like she cant fall back on other avenues. She has plenty of other endeavors to concentrate on, and if the love of music is something that is still strong she should do it for the fun of it (Interscope is not the place for fun music).

  27. I love Eve. @ Woop, I watched Flashbacks of a Fool recently. Eve is a good actress and lucky her she gets to star opposite the heavy hitters like Daniel Craig and Kevin Bacon. I love that she’s gracefully stepped into film via small roles. Her growth as an actress is evident because of it. I feel a certain genuineness and humility about her and I only wish her the best. :brownsista:
