Solange Tweets About Police Harassment

Solange took to her Twitter account late last night to tweet about the less than happy Saturday night she had while in Miami.

“A police officer just pulled a weapon on me… I have done NOTHING illegal, against the law, or anything of the sort,” she tweeted early Sunday morning.

Solange didn’t say what sparked the incident with the officer/s, but did allude to this not being the first time.

“I am simply tired of police using arrogance, ego, and authority as an offense,” she wrote. “I’m only tweeting this to raise awareness. I could have left quietly, but I am sick of this scenario being played out over and over again. It is time to do something about it. I am a mother raising a young black child in America. I’m going to die trying!” she added.

Solange is just one of the latest celebs to have a run in with Miami’s finest. Singer Adam Lambert and Paulina Rubio have also tweeted about their run-ins with the Miami police this year.

  1. What’s up with the Miami Police Dept?? What is there problem?

  2. This is so sad but many officers do use their authority to boost their egos and aggravate people just because they can

  3. She’s not lying, this is EVERYWHERE and I’m tired of it aswell. She better be glad they didn’t beat her for NOTHING, or tase her for NOTHING, oh because they will. I know I see it too much on the news. And crazy thing is they’ll only get suspended WITH PAY…crazy huh? And this isn’t only police I used to get in trouble in school alot but most of the time it was because teachers thought they could talk to me ANY kind of way, treat me any kind of way just because they had a little authority. Sorry about the rant I’m just tired of crap like this happening.

  4. Hope tweeting for awareness’ sake doesn’t damage her case.

Don’t expect the Police to treat you with anything more than common courtesy IF that. Where she been? I’ve always been just as cautious of the police as they are of ‘me’, in the few instances (parking tickets/speeding tickets) I’ve had with them.

Somebody call Al Sharpton and ‘nem for Solo…oh, and for Adam and Paulino and whatever celeb of color that’s been manhandled by Miami’s finest.

  5. Say what you what, The police are NO friend to, us, Black people. I don`t trust them in the least. Most of them are nothing but klansmen in blue uniforms instead of a hood and white sheets.

“I`m a victim of police brutality”, ‘They Don`t Care About Us’, by Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson & The GOLDEN 80s 4ever!!! Happy Birthday Mike.

  6. Ok pulling a weapon on someone who doesn’t deserve it sounds scary, whether you’re black or white!
Of course we don’t know what’s the full story but even for a routine traffic stop that sounds excessive.
I will say that it hurts the cause when celebs (of color) bring up race- it’s as if white america is programmed to dismiss those events.
