Rihanna Gets A New Tattoo(s)

Anyone who has read this blog long enough knows how I feel about sistas and tattoos- or should I say, sistas who get too many tattoos. Singer Mary J. Blige falls into this category and so does does Keyshia Cole. I love’em – but both have diminished their look and overall femininity with overly large tattoos that jump out at you the moment you see them. Rihanna, pictured above, is slowly joining the crew- as she was spotted recently get inked up even more than she already is.

If I can find one thing nice to say about her neck tattoos, which are very LA gangbanger-ish, it is that they are at least hidden from view most of the time.

  1. Rihanna is not ghetto like Mary and Keisha which is why her tattoos are ladylike, feminine and hidden from public view. Her tats are not used to bring attention to herself but rather to highlight a body part she shows only to her man or she sees when undressed and alone.

  2. To me it depends on the tatoo, where it is and how large. As mentioned I don’t like Mary’s or Keyshia’s, they are just too big. Rihanna’s are feminine. But I hear more and more men say they don’t like their women to have tatoos so I guess it means something. Beyonce got hers removed a few years ago, I guess she heard people like us were talking about it. I don’t have one, however it has crossed my mind but I don’t think I’ll do it. One thing I have always wanted but was afraid to do is have a navel ring. I think they are so pretty, maybe I should get one before I get too old πŸ˜†

  3. To the OP. That’s just it. Her tats are hidden. I have a tat. ONE. πŸ˜† And it’s on the back of my neck. I reveal it when I want to but for the most part, it’s covered up. I don’t think Monica, Mary or Keyshia’s (just to name a few) openly viewable tats like that look good when you’re going for an old school glam look or if you’re just trying to look casual… Even Fantasia has that wicked tat down her leg; it doesn’t mesh when Ms. Celie is doing a jig on stage. πŸ˜† I don’t know. I feel weird about this because I do have one, but it’s not big and blatant and just in your face. It’s private, except for when I want people to know I have it… I have no idea what I”m saying. πŸ˜† Bottom line, I sort of understand why these ladies have so many; the shyt IS addictive, but you gotta have some self-restraint or you’ll be getting tatted up with a ’57 chevy and bucket of chicken wings on your back with no REAL REASON for having them. The one I do have ‘means something’ specific and unique to me. I hope Rih-Rih’s skin drawings mean something to her as well as the other ladies with tats…

  4. Oh, by the by. Rihanna needs to press/relax those roots. πŸ˜† Peace & Luv, everybody! Peace & Luv! πŸ˜†

You are so wrong for that. πŸ˜†

  6. Good Tuesday morning i love her tattoos they small not noticable. I have three they in places that i can cover them up and im getting two more. It depends wear you but them. I think alot of tattoos is sexy on a man that have a great body lol.

  7. I know the pictures you posted are new ( I have them on my bog as well) but the tattoos are not. I believe I have seen them before but like you said they are hidden away. I like them both but don’t like the one she has on her arm or foot. I would think her covergirl contract would prevent her from scarring up herself like that but I guess not. Unlike Keyshia and Mary Rihanna covers her arm and foot tatoo when she is in an evening gown ot attends big events.

  8. After being stifled for so many years Rihanna is trying to exert her independence by doing with her body whatever she likes. In the end though she will end up just like Mary and Keyshia; looking cheap. Keyshia’s arm tattoo is heinous but Mary’s tattoos make her look like she served time in prison. She is one rough looking broad.

  9. Btw, Rihanna’s star tattoo on her neck matches one Chris Brown has also.

  10. It’s news to me. I knew she had one on her foot/ankle area, but I didn’t know she had one one her neck. I happen to like tattoos and body art, despite a lot of people’s less than lovable view of it. I don’t think they have to be hidden all the time, and I love to see stars and people in general expressing themselves in ink. These tattoos are pretty simple to me, but cute and a little fitting at the same time.

I like the fact that Keyshia Cole hasn’t had her tattoo removed just because she’s moved up on the fame ladder and whatnot. Same with Mary. I guess when people get bigger some people expect leave their old lives behind and any evidence that they’ve had a less than stellar and perfect life, which I think Mary and Keyshia exhibit with their ink. Whether to hide a tattoo, put it in a less visible place, or to even remove a tattoo is very much a personal choice so I wouldn’t hold it against anyone if they ever removed or covered, but I will admit it’s oh so cool to see them every now and then.

Why? πŸ˜† Either au naturale or lay it straight or wear a better hat. πŸ˜†

    :iagree:

  12. to me your body is your temple there is several stuff you should’nt do with it included but not limited to :tatoo, stripping, showing it to strangers for money under the pretexte of being an entertainer aka prostitution ect
but i agree with majesa on mary nd keyshia they didnt remove their tatoo’ s to please an audience that expect them to be fake i hate tatoo’s it’s so no classy women ish but when you’re young you act crazy trying to find yourself be old and mature enough to assume your mistake and learn from them instead of trying to cover them is a

  13. MARC JACOBS HAS A NEW RIHANNA HANDBAG OUT. IT IS ALL OVER THE NET.

    THAT IS NEWS, BROWNSISTA.

  14. um rihannas roots is a lil crunchy….she might wanna put a pressin comb to tht…im just sayin

  15. Rihanna needs to go find herself. It just seems like she is trying way too hard and it is sooo obvious. She could never be different. She wants to follow in everyone’s footsteps… Just like everyone else.

At least 15 years ago, not many people were getting tattoos. Especially women. Women knew that it did not look classy and it was a “jailhouse” symbol. Now everyone is doing it, because most people are followers. But hey, “whatever works.”

Me personally, I never thought to even get a tattoo because for one, my body is a temple, not trash. For two, I feel like it is way for someone to identify me. I would never want to be identified by a tattoo. Almost like, God forbid, if I am trying to hide from someone, I would never want them to say, “she’s tall, has a brown complexion and she has a tattoo, on the right side of her neck.”

But hey, like I said, “whatever works.”

  16. MZA why she need to tire so hard for what. She young and enjoying life something that we all need to do.

  17. I don’t know what new tat Rhianna got, but I’ve seen those before. I like her tats. I’m iffy about the foot one, but its her body to do as she pleases..
Mary regrets that arm tat, I recall her having makeup covering it or a slight removal in the past. Keyshia loves hers and I guess if you have a tat, you think about it long and hard before you get one..
And one more thing please don’t allow the neighborhood tat dude [Viper], to tat you up in the parking lot with a bic, a needle and sewing machine like contraption….yes I have witnessed this

πŸ˜† I’ll never understand why some people let ‘John from uphill’ put something permanent (unless other actions are taken) on their bodies. For your health’s sake, please find a nice professional place and person to do the work.

I knew about that about 2 weeks ago and thought the bag was so totally boring and unattractive that I didn’t bother to post it. πŸ˜†

  20. AINT NO “HMMMM” wether its her site or not truth need to be spoken That’s some bullshit stephanie if you’re suppose to talk about black women accomplishment you may as well featured rihanna’s marc jacob is designing bags that rihanna inspired aint that an accomplishment? if that was beyonce’s that would be the first thing you’ll talk about its so unfair ! so her tattoos are a better subject than the bags a well know designer designed in her name? oh please :hmph:

  29. I saw the Marc Jacobs bags which was inspired by her their really cute i saw them on another site. It would be nice Stephine if you would post them i think some people would really like them , and it ‘s good to see some one other than beyonce gets love from other designers.

    Just my two cents.

  30. its not fair that rihanna’s handbags are not exposed when if it was beyoncΓ©’s they will be there
than again no one respond to those complains that means what that means
its her site to each his own and if we dont like it that’s our problem

  31. TATOOS ARE VERY UNLADYLIKE AND THE BIBLE CLEARLY STATES YOU SHOULD NOT MARK YOUR BODY.

  32. Yuk-a-muk!!!! Why would she mar her seemingly perfect body? To each his (or her) own I suppose. Not my thing really. I like to set trends, not follow them. If I see one more tatt on the small of a womans back, I think I’ll throw up in my mouth!! EVERY one and their neighbor has one there and they always make sure they show it off by wearing their jeans extra low with thongs exposed. Yawn. It is soooo 2000. But that’s just my take on it. At least she can cover it up when she grows up.

  33. @ Des I agree, all tats make you look dirty, the more tats, the dirtier you look

  34. I thought I was gonna take a lot of heat for my comments, but it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who feels this way about tatts. Besides the whole ‘body is your temple’ thing, I just think there is a certain stigma that goes along with tattoos. Unfortunately, people have a preconceived notion about people who have them. That’s just the way it is. Not a good one I might add. You can’t walk in Corporate America an expect to get a job with a giant tattoo on the side of your face. Same with piercings. Everyone is allowed to do what they want with their body, at least in America. I just think more thought should go into it before making such a drastic and permanent decision on something that could possibly impact you for the rest of your life. I’m still mad at Rev. Run for letting his daughter get one. I guess it’s best to be involved though so kids won’t go behind your back and get real crazy with it, but I digress….

  35. I don’t think self-expression can ever be so neatly pushed into a box…If a tat is deep and personal it can never be “unattractive” because it’s simply not up to the beholder. I, personally, have no tats…but I see Amy Winehouse’s tats and I love them…they’re not rife with details and not at all precise but I believe them to be a representation of the artistic, dynamic, and inner-directed woman she is.
Now, as for Rihanna’s tats…she has the neck tat, the foot tat, and there’s a vertical series of numbers or letters going down her side. She’s said she’s very interested in them (tats) as they make up another culture. And, she visits shops frequently.
I don’t find her tats individual or artistic…but she’s a young woman who’s had little time to learn, honestly. I think she’ll grow wiser and since she’s got such an interest in the art, I’m sure she’ll have these changed to other more meaningful and expressive things.

Stephanie…I also disagree about her bag being boring…Why wouldn’t you post it? I’ve seen tons of pictures on this site of outfits that, frankly, made me laugh. The bag is very Marc Jacobs…it represents Rihanna well…futuristic but green. It’s a nice bag…it would only be boring if you look for bold demonstrative items because you cant bring yourself to pay that much for a bag that might go unnoticed. That’s not saying you, specifically…I certainly couldn’t afford it but I do respect the design philosophy. It’s a big deal…you should reconsider…

  36. I saw the bags also Stephanie i have to concur with some on the board . Why Not ??
I understand it’s your site and you have editorial reign on what’s to be posted , so i urge you to consider posting the pics. It’s no harm

Hell i happy it’s somebody else besides the same person

  37. Tattoos are sexy when they are spreaded out around the body. Rihanna’s stars are sexy, but da one on her arm, she’ll regret it! I have four and only two are noticeable. Dependin on the size, art and place, they could still be classy.
