Sony Music Asks Stans to Fall Back

posted by Sista on April 19th, 2011 at 3:34 pm

Because Beyonce stans are so sure they know more about the music industry than Beyonce and her team at Sony/Columbia Records do, they have gone on the attack, calling and e-mailing the label complaining about the singer’s first track (Run the World (Girls)) being leaked online.

Unfortunately, just as the stans can be nasty towards bloggers, writers and producers who they feel are not serving their queen properly, so have they been to Sony employees who have been unfairly targeted and attacked for not seeing to it that leaked versions of the “Girls’ single are taken offline in what they consider to be a timely fashion.

Tired of the harassing calls and emails, Sony finally took to their Twitter page to ask the stans to calm down and most of all, BE RESPECTFUL.

You can see screenshots taken from the Beyonce World message board below requesting fans call and e-mail offices. Sony’s response via Twitter can also be seen.

“Seems like a good time to mention that we love all our artists & we love our fans. But abusive & vicious attacks highlight the ugliness of those that make them more than anyone else who they are. Perhaps consider whether you want your fave artist to hear/see you behave nasty and abusive before you attack. & to all our amazing, polite and understanding fans- lots & lots of love & thanks for the continued support of your fave music.

  1. lol i mean these kids ae pitiful, it’s not even funny, who hangs on to a celebrity that hard? where are your parents? what is going on with your life to a point where beyonce becomes your everything? they are in serious need of help, beynce might wanna open a mental ward

  2. Let the dialogue begin.

The stans are so sure they know more about the industry because they’ve been given leave to think they do.

Stans are not just armed with the love for their favorite artist or the artist’s works, they now buttress their support by number of records sold, number of downloads, number of grammy mentions, nods, wins, nominations and considerations, etc.

Take that info and compound it with the almighty internetz, multiply it by file-sharing (image or sound) outlets, music forums, blogs, sites, feeds, etc. etc. etc. and triple it all with YOUTUBE! And wallah, you’ve got a nation of fans who are seriously invested in the plight/journey of their favorite artist, so much so that they will (can and do) write letters, post petitions, tweet, email, text, fax, scan, divide and multiply, tootsie roll, to the left to the left, tour-bus drivers, bodyguards, personal-assistants, managers, momagers, sister-gers, friendsters, managers, publicists, stylists, wig creationists, producers, writers, directors, record company executives, record company execs!

I tell you it’s a different era and a different time for fandom. It can be cruel and vicious—more so than it was in my days of loving music artists back in the day.

Stans are closer to their artists (thank you Twitter, Facebook, *cough*, Myspace). Artist info is more available to the masses, so naturally stans/fans/haters/whomever can feel justified in the knowing and can create petitions and demand change. They have access.

In this instance, Sony should’ve remained mum.

Seriously. When did Twitter become more official than (microsoft word) in terms of posting MEMOS?!?!?! LOL

  3. You would think common sense would have kicked in by now. If Sony is not worried about the leaks why are stans worried? It seems pretty obvious this leak was intentional. It’s kind of odd that several versions of one song would leak within a day unless it was an organized effort.

  4. …SMH

  5. well damn. lol

  6. This is why I just can’t w/her. Her fans make it hard.

  7. you’ve got a nation of fans who are seriously invested in the plight/journey of their favorite artist, so much so that they will (can and do) write letters, post petitions, tweet, email, text, fax, scan, divide and multiply, tootsie roll,

OK, this left me dead and on the floor

  8. @Sista,

Meant to say that the stans will tweet the people who work for BKC from the bottom to the top (record execs); tweet, email, etc.

I didn’t finish that (long, run-on) sentence properly. Got interrupted (at work). Glad you got a chuckle out of it; it couldve been funnier—i wanted it to be funnier. ;)

  9. I was gonna email you about this earlier, but I didn’t know how to screencap. I am a member of said board, have been since 2003. Even I found it utterly ridiculous at the plight and effort they are putting into this. I even questioned them if they were secretly in Beyonce’s camp, sent to the board to try and get answers. I mean, if something isn’t effecting my pockets, then I don’t give a darn. I love Beyonce as a musician, artist, vocalist, and public figure, but when I have my own troubles, worries, and affairs to attend to, then Bey, good luck, but I’m not wasting my time. I always wondered why people keep saying Beyonce’s fans make people not like Beyonce, now I get it. This is ridiculous. There was one person that tried to come at me when I made a comment, and I had to politely and maturely put them in their place. When your obsession for Beyonce has you cursing out complete and uder strangers, that could be a lil teenager or your elder, than that’s when you need a straight jacket.

  10. I thought I had no life. LOL!

  11. This is like a long bad comedy skit beyonce stand get a life please

  12. This is rediculous and sad.

  13. Wow. Is this for real? I don’t think I’m going toe to toe with any of these ppl anymore. Obviously, we’re not on the same level. That’s crazy and deranged. What’s the big deal? The song sucks, get over it. If it was good, would they have done that?

  14. Lol some people that are posting on here RIGHT NOW ,have cursed attacked and cyber bullied others in the name of beyonce, but are now jumping the sinking ship :) SHAME ON YOU

As for the article, everyone knows beyonce’s stans are a waste of air.

  15. And really, this issue is for UNIVERSAL stans. And haters. Monsters, Rihanna Navies, Bumble-Beys and all the other ridiculous names for glorified stans.

  16. Shontelle, that comment was a waste of air. Same could be said to ppl who bully in the name of ANTI-*insert artist here*, just like your comment.

With that being said, I hate the words “stan” & “hater” so much. No one should ever be a hater (though some are), and on the flip, NO ONE should be “proud” of their “stan-dom”. It’s disgraceful. Just be a fan or not, so much more elegant and a lot easier on the blood pressure.

I don’t understand why “stans” (and haters) feel the need to FORCE THEMSELVES on the industry, as if they’re entitled to the imaginary payroll of their self-imposed titles. I’m sure the artists appreciate it but please, aim all that hard work toward your own futures and maybe YOU can become an icon.

So ppl, stop buying singles 10x over just to push that record to number one (that irks me beyond belief, I feel like it’s cheating). Stop acting #ratchet toward blogs and stop abusing your power as a paying consumer! Artists aren’t worth the rabid attention they’re paid! Yes, (most) are talented and (most) deserve the success and accolades, but leave it at that. Frankly, their industry business is none of yours.

  17. LOL- There’s nothing funny about your comments lol (no pun intended)…you always hit the nail right on the head.

  18. LOL – I see you felt concerned.

  19. Another Song Please

Hmmm the plot thickens. I really don’t like this song!

  20. I have heard every version of Girls Who Rule The World there is to hear and it is a hit. It is like Diva. It is an odd song with juvenile lyrics but after hearing it so often it grows on you, which is what I think they are banking on. The beat has been sampled before and already is a hit, so that is half the battle. For fans to behave the way they have for any reason is deplorable. I doubt Beyonce is mad though. She is online and quotes the ish her fans say in her songs. She is proud if them.

  21. Another Song Please

Beyonce it is because we expect Better from you!

  22. It is an odd song with juvenile lyrics

    TA-DAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hence the problem or part of! I can’t. I disliked Diva. It didn’t grow on me. It’s still horrible; as is Videophone. Single Ladies did grow on me, like fungus, but overkill forced me to dislike it again.

Was Diva really a hit? As big as Single Ladies or almost? Just on the R&B charts? For me it was a blip on her radar of awesomeness. A tiny blip highlighted only by the grungy video that was just as forgettable.

It’ll sell because fans will support it. And the video will help, too, provided it’s good; which I think it will be.

  23. Did it bug you Shontelle? :)

    Thank you John

  24. Beyonce fans are mad because they don’t like the song and they need someone to take their anger out on and so they are attacking people who don’t have a thing to do with what Beyonce does in the studio.

Why don’t they just wait for the single to be released and see what happens. There is a good chance the song will be chart and do well. Beyonce is at the height of her career.

It is sad to see these people resort to online terrorism because they are invested in the career of another person.

  25. @Lol
    You did as was expected.

@Kanyade: Right, People aren’t even ashamed of saying out loud that the song will grow on them, what is this musical slavery? either you like it or you don’t, I never like “single people, diva or ego”, i would turn my radio to the next station, Why should a song grow on me? Entertainers works for us, we should get the best, period; Not the almost okay with possibility of growth after it overplays everywhere.

    I digress.

  26. @Shontelle, now you’re trolling. You speak of musical slavery yet you shackle yourself to every comment on here that doesn’t mesh well with yours. Stop being a troll.

  27. What is a troll? In the online lingo of course?

  28. LOL! Why didn’t you present yourself properly? Askurred?

    Gosh… tv & radio shows… news reports… blogs….

And we don’t even have a demo

    :-D

  29. Why the **** are y’all stalking us all over BW?

Yes, we go hard for Queen Bey. Who do you think has Columbia putting out the single cover, press release, radio & itunes add dates today?

And the DAY after we called their office and dragged them about being so slow to react on the demo leaking?

Spend less time focusing on us and more time focusing on your own website.

  30. You guys do all the work Drais and we the bloggers you hate so much sit back and soak it all in. You do the work, we get the money. I like that deal

    You lose again!

How many pages has the Brown Sista topic gotten to on BWBoard now? Am I even more popular than I was yesterday?

  31. too much d@mn drama over some jingles, really ppl, really!!!! lol

  32. Bey stans need to get on their grind cause ya girl is about to go head to head with Gaga. No way y’all can out buy all those white gay monsters.

  33. @Dana, but that’s why they are mad , that’s exactly why they are mad using all king of ghetto language and what not, SAD.

  34. …and while Bey’s crazy stans are mad about this flop single leak, Queen Rihsus got her 10th #1!!! ;D #THAT RIHANNA REIGN JUST WON’T LET UP

  35. I think the stans are mad that the song is just pure garbage. SOny, just admit it. The song was leaked so they can get a response from the public and it backfired once they got so many negative reviews.

  36. I agree with you Tiff. I think Beyonce probably wanted to put this out, Sony might of had mixed reviews about it, so the song was leaked to get the public response to it. The stans went in on Sony, then a few days later the officially released the song. Here’s the problem. LadyGaga went to number one on itunes in 4 hours. Beyonce’s single has yet to reach number one on the US charges. In fact, it’s went from #5 back down to #8 all in the matter of a day. Beyonce stans need to fall back and let Sony and Beyonce handle the business affairs or else they’re going to cause problems for Beyonce at Sony. That leak was intentional. Who are you to question them?

  37. They did all that and the song is garbage!!! Please quit blaming e-mails amd phone calls, the song would be garbage without the drama or with sorry!
