* Swimsuits:: by Celeb Body-Type *

Summer started almost two weeks ago. It’s only gonna get hotter, and hotter. So, make sure you stop by your fave boutique and pick out “THE PERFECT SWIMSUIT”.

Here are my fashion picks for swimwear, by celeb body-type::

Rihanna has stated that she is about 5′8″. If you’re tall, with long legs like Rihanna’s, then show off those long, lean legs this summer! These barely-there bottoms are perfect — spanned with links of diamante chain to add more jazz to your look. (I think the skulls and studded jewelry are very “Rihanna”).

J. Hud is a perfect example of today’s ‘curvy brown sista’. She always plays up her curves in sexy, memorable, yet sophisticated looks. A tankini and boyshorts with drawstrings on the side, like this set, is a great match, because the rouching at the belly creates for a subtle camouflage, and the bottoms are adjustable, so you can take them from swim bottoms to boyshorts. Add black and gold accessories to top off this suit.

Meagan Good is my choice for the petite category. She may look small and cute, but she’s still a lady. So, instead of going for bright colors, go for a more ‘glamorous’ look. A classic bikini style in a warm metallic shade, like this Diane von Furstenberg creation, should be accessorized with gold pieces.

Pear-shaped is basically when you’re small up top, and larger on the bottom. A more revealing monokini like this one creates an illusion that elongates your upper torso. Show off those famous curves! This style works for the ’Alicia Keys‘ type, because the connecting piece provides a direct contrast to curves, dramatically accentuating them.

With an athletic body like Ciara’s, meaning you’re slim and muscular with a small chest, a twisted halter will give you a more ample bust. This Melissa Odabash style is a perfect fit for more support, shaping shoulders, and giving sexy bottom curves.

For my brown sistas with larger chests, I chose Mariah as an inspiration. This summer, choose a bikini top with thicker straps, which will give you more support. As for the bottoms, get one like this MB Beach Couture set. Its Bohemian style, with metallic shimmers, and tie-sides leads the attention away from your small hips.

**Answer to a lot of comments for an hour-glass figure::
I’m an hour-glass shape, myself, so I’d put myself in the ‘Curvy’ category. Even if you’re on the slim side, curvy doesn’t only mean heavy. So the J. Hud suit would be a perfect choice, because it has thick straps to support your top, and draw-string sides to conceal some of that bottom thickness that they might kick you off the beach for showing too much of! [LOL]

…but, if you are on the thinner side of the ‘hour-glass’ shape, then pair the J. Hud bottoms with the Mariah top.

    Good job fashionista101! I am digging the top for the Mariah look. Being blessed up to is a big issue and Victoria Secret has some of th worst fits for sista with blessing on the top end. That J-Hud top is cute too.

    LOL LOL!! No they didn’t call Alicia pear shaped. They don’t have anything for us hour-glass girls. I am not pair shaped b/c my legs are not big. What about hour-glass chicks??? I read that women with my shape should wear swimsuits that are busy at the top and a solid color at the bottom, namely a wone piece.

    You really outdid yourself with this one fashionista101. I love all the styles but Meagan’s gold suit and accessories are my favorite as gold is my favorite color.

    I loved that you included many different body types. Contrary to what some may think not all bodies are created equally. Nice outfits too!

    Ms. Fashionista101,
    Welcome! Love the ensembles! I have an athletic build (muscular thighs, long legs, short-waisted) but I am loving the pear shape swimsuit. I have never tried on anything like that before. I also love all of the cover-ups esp. the JHud leopard print. Grrhh!

    This posting is probably one of the most thorough and well put together “body type” features I’ve seen in a while. If it counts for anything, job well done, fashionista101 and again, welcome to the ‘brownsista’ family!
