Ameriie Returns with New Music

After a very extended hiatus, singer Ameriie is back with some new Rich Harrison produced music.

The “Why Don’t We Fall In Love” diva unveiled “Out Loud” earlier this week via Sound Cloud, and it’s pretty much everything we’ve come to expect from the D.C. native.

While not a total let down, “Out Loud” sounds like every single song Harrison has ever produced for Ameriie, and that’s just not going to cut it in today’s musical landscape.

Amerie Releases New Music

I love a fighter and if nothing else, Amerie Rogers is a fighter. Less than a year after the singer’s “In Love & War” album crashed and burned on the charts, the R&B diva is back with a brand new single. “Who’s Gonna Love You” debuted earlier today at exactly midnight and was a welcomed gift for fans who had been clamoring for new music from their idol. Despite not been embraced by American audiences anymore, Amerie continues to record new music and said earlier this month she hoped to have a new album out by the end of this year.

Amerie’s New Album Drops Amid Very Poor Promotion

Amerie Essence Anyone who visits this blog daily knows how much I love me some Janet Jackson and have for over 20 years. However, one thing that has annoyed me about Janet is the way she seems to wait until the last minute to start promoting her new ventures. Janet won’t give one performance or even interview until the very day or week the album comes out. This to me is just one of the reasons why her sales have become so lackluster over the last few years.

All this of course leads to me what this post is really about… Amerie. The singer’s “In Love & War” album dropped today, but I had forgotten. Even though I have written about the singer’s upcoming CD many times, I had totally and completely forgotten. And how could I not have- Amerie hasn’t given one performance, that I know of, to promote it. Instead it appears she and her label are heavily depending on online promotion to move units.

One visit the some of the most popular urban (that means Black y’all) blogs online and you will see what I mean. Most of them look like virtual shrines to the singer. Yes, online is promotion is a great way to help sell your album- but it should not be the only way. Whatever happened to making appearances and performing your music for a live audience?

Today Amerie should have been out performing on The Today Show and chatting it up with Regis Kelly. Instead, I saw her twittering about how iTunes messed up and didn’t add her album for download.

Whatever the case, the singer needs to get on it. “In Love & War” has some hit worthy songs on it, but Amerie will have to work for them. Pop and R n’ B radio today isn’t very friendly to any (female) artist who’s names aren’t Rihanna, Lady Gaga, or Beyonce. More than ever female singers, especially R n’ B singers, have to work their butts off to get even the slightest bit recognition. I suggest Amerie gets to work. We all know what Def Jam does to artists who don’t live up the their potential/hype (see Janet Jackson again).

Amerie Album Cover + Sampler

Though Amerie’s “In Love & War” album isn’t due to be released until November 3rd, an album sampler has already been put up on her official website to give the fans a taste of what is to come. So far Amerie’s first two singles (Why R U & Heard’Em All) from Love & War have struggled to catch on with fans, however that may change when they get a taste of two tracks that particularly stood out to us here at Brown Sista. First is Pretty Brown, which samples parts of Mint Condition’s 1991 hit single “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)”. The song easily has first single potential and was by far my favorite track from the album. Another great tune is “Red Eye”, a sexy slow jam that Amerie’s voice just kills. Without a doubt, if given a chance by radio, Amerie could have several potential hits on her hand.

New Amerie Promo Shot

Except for the random magazine features, not much promotion wise is going is going on with Amerie. The singer’s fourth studio album “In Love & War” doesn’t hit record store shelves until November 3rd, so maybe her label is waiting until September or October to kick it into overdrive. Whatever the case, promo shots are coming out left and right and we have another to share with you today.

Amerie’s New Date; Photo Shoot

Amerie Promo Shots (1) Amerie has once again seen the release date of her “In Love & War” album change- but according to singer… it’s all good. Amerie informed the public of the change herself via her Twitter page on Wednesday night and noted the importance of the new date: “Very happy w/my album date ! Got the one I wanted. So I’m officially putting it out there: In Love & War — November 3, a special date… “. Why the date is so important- we don’t know. What we do know is that Amerie once again joins a long list of females having their albums repeatedly pushed back. Teairra Mari’s “At That Point” and Mariah Carey’s “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel”, are just two of the most recent high profile releases to get multiple push back dates.

Amerie’s promotion of her new album however continues. Check out her Elle Magazine spread below, and if you haven’t already- check out the second single from her upcoming album, here.
