Fox Orders New Drama Starring Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett is coming to Fox. According to published reports, the American Horror Story actress will be teaming up with the show’s producers, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, for a new series titled 911. The as yet unannounced show will reportedly be unveiled at the network’s Upfront event next week and debut as a mid-season replacement in early 2018.

Yaya DaCosta Cast to Play Whitney Houston


Former “America’s Next Top Model” contestant, Yaya DaCosta, has just landed the acting gig of a lifetime.

According to published reports, DaCosta will take on the role of Whitney Houston in the upcoming Angela Bassett directed film about the singer’s life and untimely death in 2012 at the tender age of only 48.

DaCosta may have come to the public’s attention as an aspiring model, but it has been her many acting roles in films like “TRON: Legacy,” “The Butler,” and “The Kids are All Right,” that have helped keep the beautiful brown skin beauty’s name on Hollywood’s radar.

Angele Bassett to Direct Whitney Biopic

“American Horror Story: Coven” actress Angela Bassett is set to direct Lifetime’s upcoming filmography on the life of late pop singer Whitney Houston.

With a simple working title of “Whitney Houston,” the film is set for a 2015 debut and will reportedly tackle the years Houston was married to fellow R&B singer Bobby Brown.

In a released stament, Bassets said she has “great regard for both singers” and is “beyond excited to go behind the camera and into their world.”

Whitney Hosuton BET Honors The Second Annual BET Honors were held last night in Washington DC at the Warner Theatre. This year’s show was hosted by actress Gabrielle Union and paid tribute to such luminaries as B. Smith, Mary J. Blige, Judith Jameson, and many others. The night’s biggest surprise guest however turned out to be singer Whitney Houston, who presented an award to actor/director Tyler Perry. Singers Monica and Keyshia Cole were also on hand to perform and pay tribute to Mary J. Blige.
