Just like Ashanti, singer Alicia Keys has an album to promote and with that promotion comes photo shoots and magazine covers. Alicia will be doing double duty for the month of November, covering not one but two (and possibly more) magazines. You can see Alicia strike a provocative pose for the cover of Marc Ecko’s Complex magazine and an even more beautiful shot of Alicia was used for her Ebony cover. November is obviously destined to be Alicia’s month as her new CD, As I Am, comes out on the 13th. Her first single, No One, is already a top 20 Billboard hit and is doing just as well on the digital sales chart (Itunes).

Singer/Actress, Ashanti, will be featured on the November Cover of King Magazine. The “Hollywood Issue”, as it is being dubbed, will feature not only a pictorial by Ashanti, but actress Elise Neal, who has also graced the cover in the past. As many of you know, Ashanti recently released her first single, Hey Baby, from her forthcoming CD, Declaration. The single was sent to radio stations on September 25th, so we should all expect to see a lot more of Ashanti in the coming weeks, as promotion for Declaration gets underway. You can check out Ashnati’s beautiful cover to your right and head on over to King’s official website to see exclusive behind the scenes footage of the cover shoot.

It’s been a few weeks since I did one of my mega picture posts and now seems as good a time as any to get back into the swing of things. All types of events went down last night and of course beautiful Brown Sistas were right in the mix of it all. Gabrielle Union, who you can see to your right, took in the the scene at Maxim’s Style Awards, while Ashanti was all over the place promoting Resident Evil, and Beyonce made a quick appearance at GQ Magazine’s 50th Anniversary Party. All the fabulous-ness from the ladies mentioned above, as well as Tyra Banks and Keyshia Cole can be found on the next page.

Singer Ashanti stopped by 106 & Park yesterday to talk about her upcoming movie, Resident Evil: Extinction, as well as her new single, Hey Baby, which has now officially been confirmed as the first single from her upcoming album, The Declaration. I listened to the single earlier today on Ashanti’s MySpace Page and honestly, I do not like it. I don’t think it is suitable as a comeback track and a comeback is excatly what Ashanti is trying to do. Her last album was released three years ago and it did not sell as well as her previous two albums. Since then the musical landscape has changed quite a bit, with singers like Beyonce, Ciara and Rihanna now occupying the throne Ashanti once shared with singers like Brandy and Monica.

2007 is shaping up to be the year of the comeback diva and Mary J. Blige has officially thrown her hat into the ring. Mary’s new CD, Growing Pains, is due to hit record store shelves on November 20th, the same day as Mariah Carey and Foxy Brown. To make things even more interesting, the week before, November 13th, will see Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, and Celine Dion go head to head for the number one position, as their new CD’s will drop on the same day as well. As you all know CD release dates are subject change at any time (just ask Mya), but I don’t think any of the above artists, not even Foxy, will have their release dates moved forward or pushed back.

The MTV Video Music Awards are in progress as I write this post, but like many of you I could care less about who wins these statuettes, I watch to see what folks are wearing and this year’s VMA’s are as outrageous as those from years past. Lil Kim probably set the standard back on 1999 when she wore her infamous purple jumpsuit that had one boobie hanging out. I loved that outfit. I thought is was daring and let’s face it- she did look good. However, I cannot say the same for up and coming female rapper, Little Mama. Look to your right and you will see what I mean. This sista showed up in a baby outfit with a pacifier hanging from her mouth. Granted- it was a jewel encrusted pacifier (lol), but it was still gosh darn hideous.

Today’s Mega Picture Post will consist of images from Conde Nast’s Fashion Rocks show which went down last night in New York City. Black Female Star Power was in full effect as everyone from Tyra Banks to Mary J. Blige, who performed with Usher, came out to take part in the festivities. Fashion Rocks will air tonight on CBS so don’t forget to check out the performances, but for now, we have plenty of pics to share with you. To your right we have Mary and Usher, who left his new bride, to perform at the show. I have no idea what they sang but I am anxious to see their performance, as I am curious as to whether Usher can vocally hang with Mary.

→ Irv Gotti, former President of Murder Inc. Records, told urban shock jock Wendy Williams that he and Ashanti were romantically involved at the beginning of her career but that she turned her back on him and the company when they were tried for money laundering.
→ Keyshia Cole’s Let It Go is #1 on the R n’ B-Hip Hop charts for a second week in a row. Let It Go also jumps five spots to the #12 position on Hot 100 charts.
→ Kelly Rowland’s video for her next single entitled, Ghetto, will be released September 10th.
→ Karrine Steffans may be getting sued by Big Tigger. Rumors are swirling that he is tired of her accusing him of being gay and is ready to take things to court in order to clear his name.

Singer Ashanti has apparently put her musical career on hold to protect us all from flesh eating zombies. As many of you already know, Ashanti has been racking up acting credits since she released her last album, Concrete Rose, in 2004. Since then she has starred in The Muppet’s Wizard Of Oz (2005), Coach Carter (2005), and John Tucker Must Die (2006). Keeping the streak going, Ashanti will next appear alongside Milla Jovovich in this fall’s Resident Evil: Extinction.
