Monique Lhuillier gowns, Zac Posen dresses, Cartier jewels, and Lorraine Schwartz diamonds. What could make any celeb-fashion event better? — Music! Condé Nast’s 5th Annual ‘Fashion Rocks’ concert took place last night @ NYC’s Radio City Music Hall. Celebeauties like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Solange, Mariah, Mary J, and much more performed, but the biggest attraction was, of course, the fashion.

Fab actress, Nia Long, attended the “Black And White” Gala for the Barack Obama campaign, Thursday, in Beverly Hills, California. Always one to impress, without over-doing, Nia stepped out in one of Fall’s hottest heels — the Pierre Hardy black velvet sandals with gold cube detailing [retailed at $995]! You have to see them up close! But, look at that sheen on her hair — amazing! I need some of whatever she’s using!

I love “laid-back” looks. One way to spice them up, of course, is to throw on a nice pair of heels. But, to make the look “official”, wear a bright colored jacket, with an all black ensemble. The contrast that the burst of color creates, helps you to make an amazing statement, and keep your outfit from looking dead.
* Bright jackets can also, of course, be worn with pieces besides black, but keep the “wow factor” at a minimum, since a jacket is such a large part of the outfit.

Hip Hop’s first couple,
Beyonce Knowles and Sean Carter, were in Cannes this weekend to take in the sights and sounds of the city, as well as Diddy’s Memorial Day party which he through aboard his own private yacht. The couple was first seen partying it up with Diddy and other guests like Lindsay Lohan and
Kerry Washington and then were later on spotted by the paparazzi strolling through a shopping center.

An all-star line up of Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce Knowles and Mary J. Blige, took to the stage last night to perform at “Movies Rock”- a two hour live event to celebrate the relationship between music and film. Proving that green isn’t just for Kermit the Frog, Beyonce and Mary J walked the red carpet in gorgeous emerald gowns. Both ladies would later switch it up for their performances. Beyonce took to the stage to perform “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” in a multi-colored gown. While Mary J, to your right, changed into a cream colored gown and was joined by John Legend to perform “As Time Goes By”.

As reported here last week, singer Whitney Houston made her long awaited return to the stage at yesterday’s Live & Loud Music Festival in Malaysia. Before I went to bed last night at least one review had been posted online by a fan who said they were at the concert. By the time I woke up this morning and checked my email- there were several and none of them were very flattering. Honestly, I never expected Whitney to be her old self vocally and that is why I believe she launched her comeback overseas rather than here in America. However, I didn’t expect the reviews of her voice to be so sad either. According to Mr Manager’s Blog the Whitney of old is gone.

Is it me or does there seem to be a new award show being held almost every week? This time the show is the Bambi Awards, an annual television and media prize awarded by the German media company Hubert Burda Media. Rihanna was the sole vision of brown-ess at this show which was held in Duesseldorf, Germany last night. Unlike her AMA red carpet faux pas, Rihanna showed up for the Bambi’s looking amazing in a body hugging leopard print evening dress that showcased every curve she had. Rihanna was also the night’s entertainment and as you can see from the pic to your right, her performance dress was just as beautiful.

You all remember Farrah Franklin don’t you? She, along with Michelle Williams, were brought in to take the place of LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson who had been kicked out of the group Destiny’s Child. Less than three months after joining Destiny’s Child however, Farrah was shown the door as well. Since leaving the group Farrah has kept a relatively low profile aside from appearing in a few videos here and there and posing in a Black men’s magazines. Farrah however is ready to make her mark in the world of acting and is starring in the low budget straight to DVD thriller, Single Black Female. You can check out the trailer for the film on the next page and word is Farrah wrote and produced the film herself.
