Gabrielle Union Joins “Cadillac Records” Cast


Blackfilm.com is reporting that Gabrielle Union has joined the cast of the Leonard Chess biopic, Cadillac Records. Union will play Geneva Wade, Muddy Waters’ girlfriend and later wife. Waters will be played by Jeffrey Wright while the lead, Chess himself, will be played by Adrian Brody. The film also features Beyonce Knowles, Mos Def, Columbus Short and Cedric the Entertainer. Chess was the founder of Chess Records, the company responsible for launching the careers of many blues musicians in the 1950’s and 60’s.

Beyonce To Play Etta James In New Movie

At Last Beyonce is heading back to the big screen and once again she will be singing. Sticking to what she obviously knows best, Bey will be playing the role of famed soul singer Etta James in the new movie, Cadillac Records. The Dreamgirls actress will join Adrien Brody, Jeffrey Wright and Cedric the Entertainer in the 1950s-set film, reports AOL.com. Actor Matt Dillon has been replaced by Oscar-winning Brody in the role of Leonard Chess, the founder of legendary blues label Chess Records, after scheduling conflicts forced him to pull out of the project. Filming is due to take place later this year (08) in New Jersey and Mississippi.
