Singer Ciara co-hosted Polow da Don’s record label launch party and she was just about the only high profile celebrity who came out to support the man who calls himself King Of The White Girls. Buzz circulating had Janet Jackson attending- as da Don is rumored to be producing tracks for her upcoming album. Janet however was a no show, as were all those White girls Polow likes to brag about giving the Black sound to. As expected, Black women did show up to support this silly Negro as Ciara was joined by T-Boz and up and comer Keri Wilson.

After a 3 year absence, the Essence Music Festival is back in New Orleans and being headlined by some of the biggest acts in R n’ B music. The three day festival will have performances from Ciara, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Rowland, Beyonce and many others. Day one saw Ciara take to the stage and do her Matrix routine. Day two brought Beyonce to the stage and closing out the festival on day three will be Kelly Rowland and Mary J. Blige. Ok, somebody obviously done told us wrong because Beyonce and Jay Z did not open the BET Awards as previously thought. Instead BET gave Jennifer Holiday the gift of a lifetime by allowing her to duet with J. Hudson on the Dreamgirls anthem, And I’m Telling You. I must say it was a big surprise to see Jennifer Holiday take the stage but it was a pleasant surprise nonetheless. I think both Jennifer’s did an excellent job, if not a bit much at the end. Sill, this year’s show is an upgrade from last year’s and keep getting better.

Both Ciara and Beyonce took to the stage this weekend to perform in front of their adoring fans. Ciara headlined the HOT 97 Summer Jam Concert, while Beyonce continued to thrill crowds in the U.K with her sold out Beyonce Experience tour. First up however is Ciara performing live for the first time since the Redline premiere back in April. The sista continues to use her high school cheerleading and gymnastics background to perform some really amazing moves on stage. I can totally see Ciara in a female version of Steppin’ or Stomp The Yard. This type of movie would fit her perfectly- far more than the remake and lead role in Mama I want To Sing .

Why is it singers want to act and actors want to sing? It seems everyone is looking to diversify these days and Ciara is no different. The dance diva has landed a part in the film adaptation of the stage play Mama, I Want To Sing. Ciara will play the lead character who rises from singing in her father’s church choir to super stardom. For those of you old to know to remember, Desiree Coleman first made this role popular and possesses an impressive five octave range. Patti Labelle, who first introduced Desiree to the world over twenty years ago will also star in the film, as well actress Lyn Whitfield who played Josephine Baker in the HBO special.

So as they do every year, Maxim magazine has released their list of the 100 hottest women in Hollywood. Of this 100 exactly 6 of them are Black or at least part Black. Ciara came in at #72 followed by Gabrielle Union at #67, Jessica White at #60, Halle Berry at #55, Beyonce at #13 and Rihanna made the top ten by coming in at #8. Now because only 6 of the women were of color, some people have started to complain. We here at Brown Sista however aren’t the least bit concerned with the lack of color on this list because hey- look at the source. Plus, can you really take a magazine seriously that thinks Lindsay Lohan is prettier than any of the above women, or even Jessica Alba who came in at #2 ?

The Black Grammys are here everybody and to no one’s surprise Beyonce leads the list with six nominations, including nods for top female R&B artist, video for “Irreplaceable” and duets with Jay-Z on “Deja Vu” and “Upgrade U.” Ciara and Jennifer Hudson are also nominated for three awards. Diana Ross will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Don Cheadle will be given the Humanitarian Award for his efforts to end genocide in Darfur. Monique is slated the host the show and T.I and 50 Cent have been confirmed as performers. The BET Awards hand out statuettes in music, television, film and sports and last year had an audience of six million people, the most ever in it’s history and officially topped the MTV Awards as the most watched music and video cable awards show.

It has been a very hectic week you guys but I have finally found time to not only update the gallery but to also bring you some very exclusive images that you will not see anywhere else- at least until tomorrow- lol. As you all know it has been a very busy week in Hollywood for our celebrity sistas. Rihanna has been guest hosting TRL. Kelly Rowland had her album pushed back yet again, and word is Jermaine Dupri is trying to bring three- ok two, of the biggest names in music together- Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey- and some rapper name Nelly. But to get right into what this post is about, we will start things off with actress Meagan Good. The pic to your upper left is a few months old as I believe it was taken when she stopped by the CW11 Network to promote Stomp The Yard. Rihanna has officially become a miniature version of Beyonce Knowles. We all know Bey is known for doing as many 3 and four shows a day and now Rihanna is fast on her way to keeping that same break neck pace. Earlier this week the sista hosted an episode of MTV’s TRL and was invited back again today to co-host an episode with fellow diva in training Ciara. Word is her hosting duties may actually be extended to the end of this week.
