So here it is, your first look at Rihanna’s cover for the April edition of American Vogue. Shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, the inside shoot is rumored to be hot, hot, hot and a complete departure from anything the singer has done in the past. This will be Rihanna’s first ever American Vogue cover shoot and expectations are high.
So what do you guys think of the cover?
Rihanna has landed the cover of yet another magazine. The singer will grace the July 2010 edition of Elle Magazine wearing a fuchsia and gold mini dress from the Balmain Fall 2010 collection. With a new book and album on tap for the second half of this year, it appears the singer was telling the truth when she said “that Rihanna reign just won’t let up.”
Tyra Banks Hamptons Magazine Cover Shot
The latest edition of Hamptons Magazine hits newsstands tomorrow and above is your exclusive first look at the image that will grace the cover. It is none other than model, actress, entrepreneur, talk show host and Emmy winner, Tyra banks.
As previously reported, Rihanna does indeed have an editorial feature in the just released September edition of Italian Vogue. However, the singer does not land the cover- at least not of the magazine itself. Instead, Rihanna will be featured on the cover of the magazine’s couture supplement, which they release every year. The cover photo was shot by famed photographer Steven Klein and features the singer clad in a Valentino dress and what looks to be some sort of “Sasha Fierce” type arm.
Peep the cover below- and I am sure better quality images will be released soon.
Btw, want to see who actually did land the cover? Well, just look below.
Lol- three times. A total Riri cover would have been so much better.
After years of hearing about The Body Shop I finally decided to visit their website and give a few of their products a try. In the past I had heard their body butters were to die for and rumor even has it that Jennifer Lopez used her pull to get one of their shops to open up after hours just so she could buy a few cases of the legendary cream before leaving the country. But it wasn’t the name J-Lo that got me to purchase their creams. Instead it was the rave reviews of friends, family and dozens of acquaintances online who finally led me to try this line of beauty products.
I’ll admit it- I haven’t really paid much attention to Tyra Banks in years and don’t really watch either of her television shows. Still, Tyra is Brown Sista Icon and so when she does something noteworthy I am more than happy to showcase it here. Such is the case with Tyra covering the February 2008 edition of Essence Magazine. And it is not so much Tyra landing the cover, something she done twice previously, but rather what she talks about in her interview with Jeannine Turner. It seems Tyra is none to happy with the opportunities for Black women in Hollywood and is poised to do something about it. After reading December’s issue of Essence with Sanaa Lathan, Gabrielle Union and Nia Long, Tyra said “It really upset me to read about how the money they make doesn’t match up.” In fact, after reading that article, she phoned her mother at 5:30 in the morning and announced, “Ma, I have a new calling.” So now Tyra, who is the Executive Producer of not one but two television shows and who recently inked a multi-year development deal with Warner Bros. Entertainment, may actually be in a position to turn things around for Black women in Hollywood- and is making plans as we speak to do just that.
As many of you already know Keyshia Cole is Vibe Magazine’s December 2007 covergirl. Keyshia set tongues a wagging and officially elevated herself to sex symbol status when she posed topless for the cover. Vibe promised more breathtaking photos of Keyshia inside the magazine and I think they delivered on that promise. Keyshia’s inside pictorial features her totally dressed, but no less stunning. I compared these photos to those she took for Vibe back in 2006 and truly there is no comparing the two. Keyshia seemed quite uncomfortable with the sex symbol label back then but without a doubt seems to embrace it more as she says “she is comfortable in her own skin now”. You can check out one of the beautiful pics from inside the mag to your right and more can be found on the next page.
My three favorite actresses, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, and Gabrielle Union will all grace the December cover of Essence Magazine. The three sistas come together to talk about men, the lack of quality roles for Black women in Hollywood, and their dislike of gossip blogs- especially those run by Black women. Gabrielle Union, who has been taken to task by gossip blogs for supposedly partying too much, is especially ticked off about what is said about her and laments how painful it is to have your own community tearing you down. “And now because everyone is clamoring for celebrity tidbits, the bigger gossip sites and even mainstream entities are picking up on it. No fact-checking, no nothing. And in one week’s time, there were like five different dudes, a baby—I’m a homewrecker. In literally seven days. I can’t point the finger at the White media. They don’t care about us. Paparazzi are not staked out in front of any of our houses. They are not going through our garbage because they don’t care about us in that way. So when you hear crap about us, it is coming from our own community, which hurts.“.
Gracing the October/November edition of Genlux Magazine is the one and only Mary J. Blige- and what can I say? Wow! The sista looks absolutely amazing. Mary has always made a beautiful covergirl and Genlux captured her beauty perfectly with the cover shot. Genlux is described as a luxury fashion and beauty magazine for the affluent Southern California woman, offering the latest on what to wear, how to wear it and where to find it. Unfortunately, unless you live in California you probably will not be able to find this particular issue. I received this pic over a week ago but cannot find the actual magazine anywhere. I guess that just leaves us this cute little cover to admire from afar.
It’s Tuesday, so you guys know what that means- it’s time for this week’s edition of Talk To Me Tuesday. I thought today we could use Nelly and his recent comments about Essence Magazine and Halle Berry as our focus. For those of you outta the loop, Nelly recently told SOHH that he would love to be on the cover of Essence but knew he would never get the chance because of his highly sexual and some say exploitive Tip Drill video (I still haven’t seen it). However, he says Essence clearly has a double standard as it has put actress Halle Berry on the cover several times since her controversial role in Monster’s Ball. As you all surely know, Halle had a very graphic sex scene (I cannot watch that scene all the way through) with actor Billy Bob Thorton in MB, but won an Academy Award for the role anyway.
With the release of Mary J. Blige’s Growing Pains CD right around the corner, you knew it would only be a matter of time before we all got a glimpse of the cover. To your right is the understated, yet elegant pic that was chosen to grace Mary’s new opus. The pic is beautiful. The hairstyle is very Rihanna-ish. The jewelry and make-up are understated. I’m not overwhelmed by it or very impressed, but you all know how hard I am to please when it comes to photo shoots. Still, Mary does look regal, which is probably the look the Queen Of Hip Hop & Soul was aiming for.
Singer Keyshia Cole will grace the December cover of Vibe Magazine and what a stunningly beautiful cover it is. I am so loving Keyshia’s new vibe. Her latest photo shoots are completely different from those she did when she first came out. This time around there seems to be a deliberate attempt to downplay her rough edges and instead concentrate her inner and yes, outer beauty. Just look at the cover to your right. It’s the best cover I have ever seen of Keyshia. She looks absolutely gorgeous. From hair to make-up, to styling- wait, she has no clothes on- and yet that is perfect too. However, what I love most of all is that someone was smart enough to airbrush out that tattoo on her arm, making this cover absolutely perfect.
