Brown Sista

Andrea Kelly saunters into the room with her stiletto boots clicking, her shoulder-length curls bouncing; she’s sparkling like the crystal hoops dangling from her ears. Despite her famous last name, few in the room know who she is. She’s used to that. Andrea has been ignored before, like in those posh stores near Chicago’s Gold Coast or in Los Angeles, where burly bouncers blocked her from crossing the velvet ropes—that is, until the gatekeeper found out who she was. Then it was “Oops.” Disbelief turned to immediate accommodation. And then came the apologies, “Sorry, Mrs. Kelly.” But mostly it’s, “I didn’t know he had a wife.”

Singer Beyonce Knowles is featured on the cover of June’s Vibe magazine. Below are the pics- which I know are quite late but Vibe took their slow sweet time sending me my special copy of the magazine that I actually get faxed to me every month. This keeps me from having to scan images but instead of sending the mag to me weeks in advance as Vibe claimed they would, they actually send it to me late. Still, for those of you who want the pics, here they are. Enjoy.

Singer, actress, dancer and all around Diva Janet Jackson is on the cover of the spring 2007 issue of the new UK fashion and music magazine Sly & Chic. We first reported last year that Janet would be the mags first covergirl and the issue is now on stands- so do go out and pick that up if you are a UK fan. More Janet goodness is soon to follow as Tyler Perry posted a message via his website stating that his new movie “Why Did I Get Married” will most likely be released this year rather than the Spring of 2008 as first reported.

Singer Rihanna has made the cover of her new album Good Girl Gone Bad, available via her official website and I must say I am very impressed with it. It’s understated yet eye catching at the same time. Rihanna appears to definitely be flexing her glamour girl image and this cover will no doubt help to solidify that image. And though I have never been a fan of her music, I predict the sista’s star will continue to rise, especially with the release of the new album. Rihanna has the backing of a very powerful record label as well as corporate agencies and sponsors who have a lot invested in her becoming the next big thing. Add her good looks and youthful innocence to the equation and I think we have the makings of another Brandy- yes I said Brandy.

R n’ B singer Keyshia Cole was called to perform on Easter Sunday morning of at the City of Refuge Church in Gardena, California and completely bombed in a performance complete with a wardrobe malfunction, according to spywitnesses. After being informed that she was present, the Pastor, Bishop Noel Jones, invited Keyshia to perform. The Bishop mistakenly introducing her with the wrong first name. Plus she had a “wardrobe malfunction.”K.C wore a short dress with thin straps. When a female member of the church attempted to cover her with a shawl, the back of her dress was accidentally lifted. According to witnesses in the choir stand, Cole’s backside was exposed. The woman assisting Cole managed to cover her rear just before she stepped out to sing.

Rumors have been circulating for the past few weeks that Shar Jackson went under the knife and now that she has confirmed it, I guess we can all commence to talking about what an obviously desperate attempt this is to win back her now divorced ex-boyfriend.
