I’m sure all you die hard Janet Jackson fans know that Wednesday, May 16th was our girl’s 41st. birthday. TV One will pay tribute to Miss Jackson by running a marathon of Janet’s videos as well as television shows she has appeared in from 12-10pm and again from midnight to 6am. Tune in to check out Janet as the adorable Penny Woods who got burnt with an iron by Kim Fields‘ crazy mama- lol. As well up to date interviews and performances by the woman who spawned a generation of male and female admirers- and clones.

You have got to be over twenty-five to remember this sista. Adina Howard burst onto the R n’ B scene in the mid nineties as a sexed up version of Janet Jackson. Complete with hot pants and the sexiest group of female back up dancers you have ever scene, Adina dominated the summer on 95′ with hits like My Up And Down and Freak Like Me. Adina’s first album Do You Wanna Ride was a certified hit and has sold 1.3 million copies to date. Unfortunately, like a lot of nineties acts, (En Vogue, Jade, Monifah) Adina’s career was short lived. Her second album, Welcome To Fantasy Island was shelved by her record label after they decided it contained no radio friendly singles. Undeterred, Adina has continued to record music and even collaborated with Jamie Foxx on his first CD.

Singer Amerie who was spotted taking in the sights of London earlier this week took to the stage last night to perform at the famed G-A-Y night club. Amerie, whose career has never quite taken off in the states is quite popular in Europe and I believe her two largest fan sites are both UK based. And while American Amerie fans may have to wait until God knows when for new music from the singer, her European fans have already been blessed with several new tracks and even an album release date. I’m sure by now most of you are familiar with the interview former SWV member Leanne “LeLee” Lyons gave to Jamie Foster Brown of Sister 2 Sister magazine. In the interview LeLee talked of being penniless and homeless, eventually turning to the gay community just to put a roof over the head of herself and her children. Like many of you, I wondered why Coko and Taj, who seem to personally and financially be doing quite well, did not step in to help out their former bandmate and friend. Well Coko sat down to talk to AOL Black Voices about just that and asserts she was just as shocked as the rest of the world to learn of what LeLee had been going through for the past few years.

Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown has given birth to a daughter in California, her publicist said Tuesday. The baby, who weighs 5 pounds, 4 ounces, was born just after midnight Tuesday at St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica, said Nadine Bibi in an e-mail to the press. “Baby is completely healthy with a good head of hair. Mother and baby are now resting,” the statement said. “No name has been decided on as yet, and she is purely known as Baby Brown!” As you all know, Melanie has said Eddie Murphy is the father. New tracks from singer Amerie have been surfacing left and right for the past few months and that trend continues as yet another song from the singer’s forthcoming album has been leaked to the net. R n’ B Girl is a very cute-sy single that finds Amerie flexing her vocal prowess without coming off too Christina Aguiler-ish. Gabrielle Union, Elizabeth Banks and Ed Helms have signed on to ride with Eddie Murphy on the 20th Century Fox comedy “Starship Dave.” The script centers on a spaceship that takes the form of a human, played by Oscar nominee Murphy. It’s manned by 100 human-looking, quarter-inch-tall aliens in search of a way to save their planet. But trouble arises when their captain, also played by Murphy, falls in love with an Earth woman who always picks losers to date. Union will play the chief cultural officer of the miniature crew. I wonder who then will play Eddie’s love interest?

Rapper Eve is featured on the cover of the April/May issue of Giant Magazine and gives a very candid and indepth interview that touched on everything from her failed television show to the rumors of her only dating White men.On the eve of the release of her new album Here I Am, the raptress goes back to her roots and attempts to regain the throne she relinquished some four years ago to concentrate on her acting career.The issue is full of some very beautiful photos and the interview is just as pleasing.
