Janet Jackson Not Happy With New Label

Singer Janet Jackson has aired her frustrations with Island Def Jam, whom she claims is no longer supporting her label debut, “Discipline.” The album has sold 392,000 copies in the United States since its February release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Jackson told SOHH that Island discontinued promoting “Discipline” after her single, “Rock With U,” failed to chart. Additional friction apparently resulted from Island also releasing “LUV” as a single, despite Jackson’s wish that “LUV” be worked on its own. “Luv” peaked at No. 34 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, while the first single released from the new album, “Feedback,” reached No. 39.

It’s Officially “Discipline Day” On Brown Sista

It’s here! It’s finally here! The day Janet fans have been dreaming about for months has finally arrived. Today, February 26, 2008 is the day Janet Jackson’s new CD “Discipline” hits store shelves across the country. Fans are dancing in the streets or will be in a couple of hours, as Janet is due to take over New York City today, giving not one, but two performances. Janet will be performing on Good Morning America and the show will be taped live inside the Nokia Theater. However, for her afternoon show, Janet will be performing live in Times Square for MTV’s TRL crowd. Yes, I said MTV. Janet will take over the station that named her their very first ICON for the entire day and will be heavily promoted for the next couple of days as she has also been named their “Artist Of The Week”.

VH1 Interview: Making Babies With Janet

Janet Jackson Janet Jackson’s forthcoming album Discipline (out Feb. 26) is full of thumping club tracks, but since Valentine’s Day is upon us, we thought we’d slow it down for our exclusive chat with the diva. Below, we grill Janet on the slow and sexy jams (or, as they’re often referred to, baby-making songs) of her career, from the song that created the mold (”Funny How Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun)” from 1986’s Control), to the steamy title track of her new album. Nothing was off limits, both musically (album cuts, b-sides and chart smashes are all covered) and topically (since Janet’s baby-making songs tend to cover the subject of, well, making babies rather thoroughly). Things start to heat up down below…

Janet Jackson “Luv” Cover Shot

Janet Jackson’s cover shot to her new single “Luv’ has hit the net and it is in keeping with the black and white theme also shown with the CD cover. Janet is shown sporting a 1930’s bob and fishnet stockings. I love the overall look and look forward to all the promo shots from this era being made available. Above is a cropped version of the original. Click it to see the full shot.

New Discipline Promo Shots From Janet Jackson

As the release date for Janet Jackson’s new “Discipline” CD gets closer and closer more and more promo shots from the CD begin to surface and above we have three new ones to share with you all. In the past I have not always been particularly fond of Janet’s promo shots but this era so far is shaping up quite nicely. Janet is looking beautiful and most of all natural in these new shots, which I believe were more than likely photographed by Mark Liddell, who also photographed Janet for Rolling Stone and Prestige Magazine.

New Janet Jackson Promo Shot

I know I have you guys overdosing on Janet when you visit this blog- but I gotta show my girl love. Janet is an old school legend who has influenced two generations of female singers like no other performer before her- so when I get new info on the sista I have to share it with the world and such is the case with the new promo shot of Janet sent to me today. This image is featured in the new issue of Billboard that Janet appears on the cover of and rumor is this will be the look showcased on the cover of her “Discipline” CD. I love the new style- it’s a cross between the Janet and Velvet Rope eras- yet it’s still fresh. Plus with everyone obsessed with the “Rihanns Cut”, it’s nice to see Janet once again buck the trend and go for her own style. I’m hoping to see more of this and less of the dark goth look as showcased in her Prestige Magazine photo shoot.

More Janet Goodies From Prestige Magazine

More photos from Janet Jackson’s shoot with Prestige Magazine have found their way to the internet, and like the others that came before, Janet sports a short bob and a very dark, almost gothic look. I like the look but am hoping for a more cheerier vibe when the official album promo shots are revealed.

New Janet Jackson Photo Shoot & Interview

Janet Jackson Covers Prestige Magazine I predict 2008 will the year of the 80’s Diva, starting off with my favorite Diva of them all, Miss Janet Jackson. The planets are aligned and I feel magic in the air. I had hoped new Janet info would drop on January 1st. because I wanted to make my first article of 2008 about Janet. Rumor had it Janet’s new video would debut on BET on the 1st, but even more news has been revealed before that, so hopefully I will not only open 2008 with Janet, but close out 2007 with the sista as well. Blatin1814 was kind enough to send me a new interview and fabulous photo shoot Janet did for a Hong Kong magazine called Prestige. The interview is typical of all Janet’s interviews- so we don’t learn anything new. That leaves us to talk about the part I love talking about the most- the new pics. Now you guys know I love a good photo shoot and Mark Liddell, who photographed Janet exclusively for Prestige, did not disappoint.
