Brown Sista

The Beverly Hills-Hollywood branch of the NAACP held it’s 18th. Annual Theatre Awards last night in Hollywood, California. Honorees included actress Vivica A. Fox and Fox television show “American Idol”. Actress Kimberly Elise (Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Set It Off) and Anthony Anderson (Meet The Andersons, Kingdome Come) hosted the show which was held at the Kodak Theatre. Vivica was awarded the “Spirit Award”, while American Idol was recognized with the Service Award for their “Idol Gives Back” fundraising telecast.

Photographer to the stars, D Blanks, recently held a showing to highlight photos from his upcoming book “Alter Ego: A Pictorial Exhibition”. Singers Amerie and Ciara were just a few of the Brown Sistas who posed for Mr Blanks’ coffee table book and there photos can be seen above. You guys know how much I love a good photo shoot and D has really created something special and unique with these images. I’m particularly fond of Ciara’s angelic Supergirl shot.

Tyler Perry’s new film, Meets The Browns, opens March 21st in movie theaters across the country, and the premiere for the film was held last night at the Cinerama Dome theater in Los Angeles, California. Those in attendance included the star, Angela Bassett, as well as Kenya Moore and model Eva Pigford.
