The film’s director, Michael D. Lee (The Best Man, Roll Bounce), tweeted the news earlier this week, revealing the new faces, as well as returning favorites Cedric the Entertainer, Eve, and of course Ice Cube himself.

Upon hearing the Cecil B. Moore recreation center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was closing down, singer Jill Scott decided to use her return to the music scene as a way to raise money to keep the neighborhood institution open.
Joined by Black Thought and rapper Eve, Jill went back to the center to shoot the video for her new single “Shame.” Set to be the lead-off single from her upcoming “Light of the Sun” album, it was co-written by Jill, who describes it as a return to her original roots of hip-hop.
“I really wanted to go back to my original state,” Scott said. “I love hip-hop and I was born to do it. I needed to come back to it, it’s been awhile and I’m in a new environment.”
That new environment Jill speaks of is Warner Brothers Records. After over a decade with Hidden Beach Records, Jill parted ways with the label after a long court battle that eventually ended with the singer winning her musical freedom.
Jill says she is finally ready to move forward with a new sound and hopes her fans will be pleased when “Light of the Sun” is released later on this year.
After taking time off to record her 4th solo album, rapper Eve has decided to get back into the acting game. The raptress will play Rosa Sparks in the female roller derby comedy, Whip It, which opens in theaters on October 9th.
The trailer for the film was released earlier this week and you can check it out below.
Today was day 2 of the Minority Mentorship Symposium and it brought out former Destiny’s Child members Letoya Luckett and Latavia Roberson. As many of you know, Letoya has kept a pretty high profile since being booted from DC nearly a decade ago, opening up several boutiques throughout Texas and releasing (almost) two solo albums. Latavia on the other hand has been relatively quiet and makes few, if any, public appearances. The singer was last seen at Letoya’s birthday party last month but apparently didn’t speak to the press or give any details about a possible return to the business.
From New York to Los Angeles, rapper Eve has been all over the red carpet lately, However, one event missing from her busy schedule is the album release party for her fourth CD, Here I Am. More than a year after the self described Pitful In A Skirt’s first single hit the airwaves, the album is still in limbo. Like Ciara, Eve’s first single, Tambourine, did not become an instantaneous hit. A second single, Give It To You, was eventually released and that too failed to catch on at radio stations. So why not just release the album anyway and see what the fans response would be? Well according to EW, Eve is simply suffering at the hands of her record label (Interscope) and it’s chief.
