I mentioned back in August that I was opening an online boutique — ShopKlassiq.com. Well, it’s here! My official Grand Opening was actually last month, but I’ve been crazy busy with a few other blossoming projects, and couldn’t seem to find the right time to share it with the BrownSista.com audience. We’re currently carrying everything from tops and bottoms, to dresses and outerwear. We have a small, but nice selection of jewelry, and plan to add more in the upcoming weeks…Footwear and accessories are also on that list!
A week ago, my team and I headed out to NYC’s Greenwich Village for this amazing Fall/Winter 2009 photo shoot (promo for the store). I of course styled our gorgeous models in nothing but the finest — gear from Klassiq! 😀
Photographer Chris Fox-Kelly found this spot with his eye for greatness, and make-up artist Tanisha-Faye put in some work on these ladies. & when I say the make-up was flawless, I mean FLAWLESS. We of course couldn’t do it without Klassiq’s Angels — Megan, Estefania, & Sarika (our models). They worked it out!

Fall is right around the corner, and it’s time to start stocking up on your fave trends and pieces before they all run out! Studs are one fall’s hugest trends, and that’s mainly because they’re very versatile and add a bit of edge to any look. Dresses and skirts are also my “thing” for fall, so above I’ve thrown together a collage of trendy studded dresses for the season. The strapless and mesh body-con ones are perfect for a night out on the town, while the v-neck and 2-fer styles are great for daytime looks, as well as the office!

This week’s Look of the Week is singer/entertainer, Ciara. She attended a special screening of “G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra” at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in LA, on Thursday evening. Wearing a white body-con above-the-knee dress by designer Hervé Leroux, it’s safe to say that Ciara was most definitely the showstopper at this event. The form-fitting dress, which featured a mesh panel detail, was cleverly paired with a gold and diamond statement necklace, and black Christian Louboutin pumps.
A trend which is mostly and usually worn only around the holidays and winter, can also be worked into your summer wardrobe. I love sequins, and know a lot of other women do as well.
This outfit is perfect for any daytime event. There’s a lot of sparkle, but the crisp white top tones things down. When wearing a statement jewelry piece (i.e. the bib necklace; above), try to keep the amount of accessories worn to a minimum. One other added piece is good enough.
For night, a lot of ladies usually like to go full-on with the amount of shine. The bodycon dress above is only sequined at the shoulders. It keeps the sexy night-time look of the dress, without being too loud. To brighten up the outfit, gold or silver accessories, and even a sequined clutch can be added.
One of the best things about fashion is its ability to cater to different types of people, especially when it comes to shapes and sizes. Here are a few body-flattering swimsuit styles, tips, and tricks for every shape…
For small chested girls like Cassie, a ruffled string bikini will flaunt what you’ve got, and fake what you don’t!
The best suits for curvier women like songstress Jordin Sparks would be solid colored one-piece bathing suits with a plunging neckline, as they help to keep the attention on your upper half. Tankini styles help to conceal your midriff, and the added ruching sides camouflage a round tummy. Boy shorts are also great for those who want some added coverage around their bottoms.
What’s worse than showing up to an award show wearing the same dress as someone else? — Hmmm — Obviously being the one whose look fell completely flat! Last night at the 2009 BET Awards, both Amber Rose and singer Amerie showed up wearing the same backless white Alexander McQueen mini dress. Seeing how I dubbed Amber best dressed last night, it’s obvious that I felt she looked best. On such a beautifully sunny day in LA, it was nice to see her liven up the red carpet with her neon pink patent leather pumps. For me, it wasn’t Amerie’s shoes that ruined it for me because I love her Alexander McQueen peep-toe booties, but her makeup and appeal was all wrong. You would have never known she was wearing a backless dress! She’s also such a naturally pretty girl, so the need to cake on all that eye makeup was unnecessary.
* I believe that overall, Amber Rose killed Amerie in every department. She definitely owned this look!
When we saw supermodel Selita Ebanks rocking this Balmain number a few months back at the New York Premiere of Valentino’s Last Emperor, she knocked our socks off. Pairing her revealing LBD with simple Givenchy t-strap heels, Selita proved to us once again that she stands in her own lane. Singer LeToya Luckett arrived at last night’s 2009 BET Awards wearing the same Balmain dress with silver embellishments and zippers placed all around, paired with chunky metallic silver and black heels. The only difference with LeToya’s dress is that she modified the cleavage area to possess a bandage-like covering.
+ Alicia Keys – Alicia is def one of my fave celeb fashionistas, as she always seems to pull off both casual looks and elegant ones. She looks lovely in this watercolor strapless Gucci gown.
+ Rachel Roy – The celebrity designer wore one of her own designs to a New York movie premiere earlier this week. She perfectly matched the mellow orange dress with nude heels, gold bangles, and her gorgeous sunkissed skin.
+ Kelly Rowland – The singer and television host performed at a live show in Paris, France wearing a belted coral pleat-front tunic top, white mini shorts, and silver and white Dior “fertility” heels.
+ Angela Simmons – Attending an event for she and her sister’s Pastry clothing line, Angela look fab in a black sequined mini dress, with exposed pink bra strap to match her black and pink peep-toe booties.
