As previously reported, Halle Berry has teamed up with perfume giant, Coty, to release her own signature line of fragrances. The 42 year old actress, who was just named “Sexiest Black Woman Alive” by TV One, was seen filming the first commercial for that fragrance yesterday in Hawaii. Speaking of her deal with the frangrancier, Halle said: ““For years I’ve created my own personal scent by mixing fragrances at home. I am passionate about this project as I’ve always wanted hands-on experience in creating a fragrance that is a true representation of me. Selecting a fragrance is a very personal choice and I am delighted to have this opportunity to express myself in a creative new way working with Coty.” Look for Halle’s fragrance to make it’s worldwide debut in the Spring of 2009 and to check out TV One’s countdown of the 16 Sexiest Black Women, tune in to the cable channel this Sunday, July 6th.

Singer Erykah Badu has a lot on her plate these days. The “Honey” diva is not only prepping for the release of her new album this month, but is also set to hit the road on a summer tour as well. Now comes word from Vogue Magazine that the sista has also been handpicked by Tom Ford to be the face of his new, and as yet un-named, fragrance. And though some may think Erykah is selling out for hooking up with corporate fashion bigwigs- I think her diversifying herself and her portfolio is a good thing. If ever a face was meant to be seen in print ads, it is Erykah’s. She has a great sense of style and fashion and that is probably why Tom chose her when he could have so obviously used any celebrity or model he wanted.

Usher unveiled his new fragrance for men and women, appropriately named, “Usher for Men” and “Usher for Women”, at a star studded party at Cipriani’s in Manhattan. Usher’s mom, Jonetta Patton, as well as Beyonce, Gayle King, Jermaine Dupri, Nelly, and others were on hand to help him celebrate. I received samples of both fragrances about two weeks ago, and though I know many of you have heard awful things about them, I assure you, both smell wonderful. I was particularly fond of his fragrance for men, and I’m happy to announce the 12 year old, 16 year old and 38 year old males whose opinions I asked for, also liked the smell (lol).

Are you an Unforgivable woman? Apparently Beyonce, Eartha Kitt and Aretha Franklin are, as they were the only sistas to show up to help Diddy launch his new fragrance for women. Eartha Kitt showed up for the unveiling looking fabulous, as did Aretha, who is quickly approaching her fourth decade in the music business. Beyonce however showed up looking a little out of it. The pic below is the only one of her at this event, as just like at the GQ Anniversary party, she seems to be trying to keep a very low profile.

Singer Keyshia Cole is gearing up for the release of her sophomore album, Just Like You, and photos from that upcoming project have now been released to the public. Keyshia keeps the blonde trend going as she did with her first album and basically looks exactly the same, sans a few orange streaks here and there. I honestly wish young singers of today would take a cue from Janet Jackson and switch up their looks with every album. This gives fans something to look forward to and if done properly, can help establish you as a fashion icon.

It features Beyonce doing her best rendition of Marilyn Monroe’s, Diamonds Are Girl’s Best Friend. Fellow blogger Clay Kane wrote an interesting piece on his site that got me to thinking about an article I started writing some months ago but eventually abandoned. Clay, in his article, wonders why there are so few Black women on the Billboard charts but quite a few White women who have what I like to call that Black Girl Flava? Now some time ago I predicted that the influx of White women into r&b music, with the help of Black male producers, would lead to the demise of Black women on the charts. And now that the chickens have essentially come home to roost, I think now is the perfect time to talk about why only Beyonce and Corrine Bailey Rae- who is biracial- are the only two so called Black women who have songs in the Hot 100.

Singer Olivia is not letting her dismissal from the G-Unit get her down as the blonde beauty is apparently in talks to start her own lingerie and fragrance line to be sold through Victoria Secret stores and catalogs. For those of you who are fans of her music you need not worry as she has started her own Production Company and is in the studio working on a new album with producers Rodney Jerkins and Ne-Yo. And just in case you can’t wait for the new album, here is a new track from the sista called Missing You .
