Gabrielle Union Helps New Voters “Declare” Themselves


Actress Gabrielle Union took time off from shooting her latest movie, Cadillac Records, to stop by American Eagle in West Hollywood and sign copies of a t-shirt she designed exclusively for their “Declare Yourself” voter registration drive. In 2004 Declare Yourself helped register over 1 million new voters and they are hoping to have the same success, if not more, in 2008.

Weekend Happenings: Miss Kelly & Gabrielle


The UK sure does love them some Kelly Rowland. The singer has devoted quite a bit of her time over the last few weeks to promoting the re-release of her 2007 CD, Miss Kelly. This past week alone Kelly appeared on several UK television shows- including a show called Loose Women, which is suppose to be the UK version of The View. Kelly also gave a sit down interview and performed her new single Daylight.

Jill & Gabrielle “Go Naked” For Allure Magazine


As previously reported, singer Jill Scott and actress Gabrielle Union, are the newest Brown Sistas to pose for Allure Magazine’s annual “Go Naked” issue. Allure editor Linda Wells says their hugely popular feature is not meant to objectify women, but rather to celebrate women and various shapes of the female body. And it appears many Hollywood women are in agreement as Jill and Gabrielle join a long list of Brown Sistas who have also taken it off for the magazine, including Vanessa Williams, Serena Williams, and Kelly Rowland.

Gabrielle Union Joins “Cadillac Records” Cast


Blackfilm.com is reporting that Gabrielle Union has joined the cast of the Leonard Chess biopic, Cadillac Records. Union will play Geneva Wade, Muddy Waters’ girlfriend and later wife. Waters will be played by Jeffrey Wright while the lead, Chess himself, will be played by Adrian Brody. The film also features Beyonce Knowles, Mos Def, Columbus Short and Cedric the Entertainer. Chess was the founder of Chess Records, the company responsible for launching the careers of many blues musicians in the 1950’s and 60’s.

Meagan Good Gets To Play Somebody’s Best Friend

Meagan Good: “Pretty Girl” Actress Meagan Good and Idris Elba are among the ensemble cast of Rogue Pictures’ supernatural thriller “Unborn.” According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film follows a young woman (Odette Yustman) who is tormented by the soul of a boy who died in the Holocaust. Good will play the girl’s best friend, while Elba will play a priest who helps a Rabbi perform exorcisms. The Rabbi will be played by Gary Oldman, Carla Gugino signed on to portray the haunted girl’s mother and Rhys Coiro of HBO’s “Entourage” will play the girl’s college professor. Principal photography began March 5 in Chicago under the film’s writer/director David Goyer. Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are producing.

Weekend Happenings: Allstar Edition


Vivica Fox was one of the few celebrities who skipped the NBA Allstar Festivities held over the weekend. Instead the sista was seen at the Grand opening of Mario Barth’s Starlight Tattoo at the House of Blues in Las Vegas. Vivica too has been sporting a very Rihanna-esque asymmetrical short bob lately- and I must admit it does look good on her.
