Model/actress Claudia Jordan was recently spotted on the set of Fabolous’ new video ‘Throw It In The Bag,’ featuring The Dream. If you know Fabolous, then you’d know he likes expensive things, so it was no wonder as to why Claudia looked so fly on set. She wore a buttercup yellow romper that featured a deep v-neckline. Her belted ensemble was matched perfectly with the fiercest Gucci platform heels, to date. They’re from the Spring 2009 collection.
I didn’t know this until the other day, and I don’t know if it’s a good thing, or bad, but Chanel Iman is the first black model to walk the runways of Gucci, since 2005. It may sound bad, but what’s worst is that British model, Jourdan Dunn, walked for Prada last season, and was the first brown sista in 10yrs!!
Former Gucci designer, Tom Ford, ended his reign in 2005, so maybe it’s the fault of current designer, Frida Giannini, why it has taken so long. And, why only one black model? I know it might not seem like there’s a lot of black models around, but believe me, there are. They just don’t get the same chances.
* So, my question is:
– If you were a black model, and in Chanel or Jourdan‘s shoes, would you feel honored to be employed to a company such as Gucci or Prada?
After completing a short promotional blitz in the U.K, Rihanna was off to Milan to take in the last few days of Fashion Week. One of the singer’s first stops was the Gucci Spring/Summer 2009 show, where she was the focus of intense media attention. The singer, still going strong with her good gone bad image, was photographed wearing a black dominatrix like outfit, complete with thigh high boots. Rihanna has become the darling of several high end fashion houses and is presently working with Gucci designer Frida Giannin, who is in the process of designing a gown collection that Rihanna herself will be promoting.
