Though I was hoping for news on Janet Jackson’s upcoming tour or even word of a new single being released to radio- it wasn’t meant to be and thus I bring you the only news about Janet to be released in months. The singer’s lingerie line, which we told you about a few weeks ago, is almost ready to make it’s debut according to Women’s Wear Daily. Janet has teamed up with Bruno Schiavi, the designer behind Dr. 90210’s shapewear line. “Pleasure Principle”, yes Janet named the line after her 1987 hit song, will be an 18 piece collection ranging in sizes from 32A to 44G, and all pieces will retail for under $40. Janet is presently in negotiations with major chains to carry the line in the US, with plans to take the line global by 2009.

Singer Teairra Mari was seen last week attending the Verizon Palm Centro Launch party. The former “Princess of the ROC”, is trying to make a musical comeback in 2008 and has been keeping a very high profile lately, attending various hot and cold Hollywood events, as well as hosting a few of her own in support of Jean Addicts, for which she is the spokesmodel for.

After completing her upcoming “Rock Witchu” tour, singer Janet Jackson will be turning her attention to fashion. The singer, who is also due to release a book on weight loss, said in an interview that a lingerie line from her was in the works, but didn’t give an specific details about the project. Besides posing in her panties and bra, I never knew Janet had a love of lingerie but as a fan, I’m excited to see her branching off into new things.

For their third annual celebration of Love Day, Cartier, the French jeweler has partnered with eight musically gifted celebrities, including rapper Eve and singers Ashanti and Janet Jackson. As in the past, each celebrity is linked to the charity of his or her choice, and for each sale of a Love Charity bracelet, a portion goes to the charity. The bracelets are made of silk cord with a gold fob and each color corresponds to the particular cause. Janet Jackson’s gunmetal bracelet is for the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. Eve’s peach colored bracelet is for Women In Transition and Ashanti’s royal blue bracelet is for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Pop icon Janet Jackson is getting into the reality TV business, developing a music competition with 25/7 Productions for MTV. The as yet untitled project, which has already started casting, will feature Janet as she mentors a group of aspiring singers and dancers. The project will be shot in the coming months as the singer prepares for her world tour, which launches on Sept. 10th. “It’s really about finding who’s the next Janet Jackson, Chris Brown or Usher,” said executive producer Dave Broome. “And we’ll find it from a pool of people who you wouldn’t typically find it from. We’ll go to YMCAs, church groups, local community centers and try to cast the show.” The series will also take place in various street locales, rather than on a studio soundstage. Producers are still ironing out the prize - but it could potentially relate to Jackson’s tour.

Singer Janet Jackson has aired her frustrations with Island Def Jam, whom she claims is no longer supporting her label debut, “Discipline.” The album has sold 392,000 copies in the United States since its February release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Jackson told SOHH that Island discontinued promoting “Discipline” after her single, “Rock With U,” failed to chart. Additional friction apparently resulted from Island also releasing “LUV” as a single, despite Jackson’s wish that “LUV” be worked on its own. “Luv” peaked at No. 34 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, while the first single released from the new album, “Feedback,” reached No. 39.

Pop diva Janet Jackson has announced she will tour for the first time in seven years, kicking off the jaunt September 20th in Vancouver. The singer announced the news today, and revealed that she didn’t tour her 2006 album ‘20 Y.O.’ after her record label asked her not to, despite the fact that she was already in preparation mode. “I was supposed to go on tour with the last album,” Jackson told the Associated Press. “We were actually in full-blown tour rehearsals at that point … learning numbers, getting everything together, set designs, I had to kind of shut everything down and go into the studio.” The result was Jackson’s new album ‘Discipline’, which was released in February. She will now support her last two albums on the forthcoming ‘Rock Witchu’ tour, for which a handful of dates have been revealed. Dates are scheduled for New York and Washington with the full tour itinerary expected to be announced shortly. Tickets will go on sale June 7th.

Singer Janet Jackson turned 42 years old yesterday and celebrated her big day with her longtime boyfriend Jermaine Dupri at Katsuya Restaurant. Unlike past birthdays Miss Jackson didn’t have a big celebration at a Hollywood night club but rather chose to keep it intimate and low key. Congrats to Janet! She’s still beautiful at 42 and I can’t wait to see her show these youngins how it’s done when she hits the touring circuit later on this year.
