As the release date for Janet Jackson’s new “Discipline” CD gets closer and closer more and more promo shots from the CD begin to surface and above we have three new ones to share with you all. In the past I have not always been particularly fond of Janet’s promo shots but this era so far is shaping up quite nicely. Janet is looking beautiful and most of all natural in these new shots, which I believe were more than likely photographed by Mark Liddell, who also photographed Janet for Rolling Stone and Prestige Magazine. There will never be another Janet Jackson. Who but Janet could do this and get away with it? This performance from her 2002 ‘All For You” Tour is a fan classic. The entire performance is available on DVD and is worth the purchase. Enjoy !

Now that the WGA has agreed not to the picket the Grammys, artists are coming from left and right trying to grab a coveted performance spot on the shows 50th Anniversary telecast. So far Beyonce and Tina Turner have been confirmed and are expected to open the show with a duet. Rumors are also running rampant that Janet Jackson will perform, after a 21 year absence. Blake McGrath, a backup dancer for Janet, told MTV Canada in an interview that they were rehearsing for the show. However, no official word from Janet’s camp has come down so only time will tell if this rumor is true. Another name being thrown around is Whitney Houston. Word has it Clive Davis thinks the Grammys is the perfect place to re-introduce Whitney to the industry and world at large. Read the rest of this entry »

I posted a small cover shot of Mary J. Blige’s February 2008 Vibe cover and finally Vibe has sent me my issue and I am able to post the high quality images for you all. I love the cover shot and Mary looks even more beautiful without all that text on her face. I have added these pics to Mary’s gallery on BrownSista.net as well as updated galleries by Meagan Good and I finally got my hands on amazing high quality images of Janet Jackson’s Billboard Magazine cover, as well as various other recently released promo shots.

The Janet Jackson publicity machine is in full effect and there is no stopping the “Queen of the Dance” from reclaiming her throne. More photos from Janet Jackson’s shoot with Prestige Magazine have found their way to the internet, and like the others that came before, Janet sports a short bob and a very dark, almost gothic look.
