Wow! Despite not having a certified hit with her first single, Spotlight, singer Jennifer Hudson’s first solo CD is still on track to sell about 225,000 copies. According to Hits Daily Double, rapper T.I will come in at #1 with sales of his “Paper Trail” exceeding 500,000. While Jennifer will land in the #2 spot, followed closely by Robin Thicke who is projected to sell about 150,000 copies of his “Something Else” CD. This is of course fabulous news for Jennifer and tops off an already spectacular year the singer has been having. Jennifer’s appeared in a hit movie (Sex and the City), gotten engaged, is about to appear in another movie (The Secret Life Of Bees) and now has a top 10 album to boot.

Singers Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah and Alicia Keys, were all spotted walking the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival. The three Brown Sistas were on hand for the premiere of their new movie, The Secret Life of Bees. Gina Prince Bythewood, the brilliant sista behind the movie Love & Basketball, directed this film and look for it to hit movie screens across America on October 17th. Singer Jennifer Hudson is also gearing up for a promotional blitz as her long awaited debut album will finally be released on September 30th. Look for Jennifer to make appearances in the coming weeks on the Today Show, Live with Regis & Kelly, and David Letterman.

The Oscar winner has worn everything from Oscar de la Renta to Donna Karan, but for the cover of her new album, which hits stores in September, Jennifer Hudson proves that she’s no fashion snob, opting for a simple $36 glitter-striped American Apparel dress. Bargain hunting’s nothing new to the “Spotlight” singer, who readily admits to an obsession with affordable British chain Topshop. But while the cotton dress may have been a bargain, when it came to accessorizing the look she went decidedly high-end, glamming it up with a $475 LAI Vamp belt. It may have taken here four years, two movies and an Academy Award win to get her, but finally Jennifer Hudson is ready to release her debut album. Speaking to MTV last month, Jennifer said she still hadn’t picked out a name for her album but it appears that has all changed because in true diva fashion, her debut album is now self titled. “Jennifer Hudson” is due to hit record store shelves on September 30th. with “Spotlight” being the first single. Jennifer has already quietly started promotion of her new venture, first performing at the Wal-Mart Shareholders Meeting back on June 6th. and just recently taking to the stage over the Fourth of July weekend to perform with Season 3 American Idol winner, Fantasia.

J. Hud is a perfect example of today’s ‘curvy brown sista’. She always plays up her curves in sexy, memorable, yet sophisticated looks. A tankini and boyshorts with drawstrings on the side, like this set, is a great match, because the rouching at the belly creates for a subtle camouflage, and the bottoms are adjustable, so you can take them from swim bottoms to boyshorts.
