Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson is in negotiations to lead the cast of “Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys” for Lionsgate. Guess who’s writing, directing, producing and starring in “Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys”? That’s right. None other than Tyler Perry. In addition, though, the cast is already set to include Sanaa Lathan, Alfre Woodard, Rockmund Dunbar and Oscar winner Kathy Bates. According to Variety, the drama focuses on “two families from different sides of the tracks that become intimately involved in love and business.” The trade is quick to point out — as if Bates’ casting weren’t notification enough — that this will be Perry’s first film to feature white characters in prominent roles. “Preys” will be Perry’s sixth for Lionsgate, following the fall hit “Why Did I Get Married?” and this March’s “Meet the Browns.” He’s expected to follow “Preys” with “Madea Goes to Jail.” Hudson has been working steadily since her “Dreamgirls” breakthrough. She’s finished work on “Winged Creatures” and the “Sex and the City” movie and she was recently cast in a an adaptation of the novel “The Secret Life of Bees.” Jennifer’s musical career however appears to be in limbo as her much anticipated debut album has no release date and reportedly has not even been completed.

Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson and Oscar-nominees Queen Latifah and Sophie Okonedo have been signed to star in Fox Searchlight’s big screen adaptation of Sue Monk Kidd’s best-selling 2003 novel “The Secret Life of Bees.” Jennifer will play the friend of the film’s central character, Lily Owens, a 14-year-old girl who escapes her lonely life and troubled relationship with her father by running away with her caregiver and only friend to a South Carolina town where she is taken in by a trio of bee-keeping sisters. The film is set in South Carolina in 1964. Latifah and Okonedo will play two of the sisters, while singer-actress Alicia Keys is in talks to play the third. Variety reports Dakota Fanning is in talks to star as the 14-year-old girl.

Academy Award winning singer and actress, Jennifer Hudson, is working her Oscar win for all it’s worth. Rumor has it the budding diva will make her first appearance on the big screen since Dreamgirls, in New Line Cinema’s, Sex And The City movie. Jennifer will be playing Carrie Bradshaw’s personal assistant and no, there is no singing involved and I don’t think anyone will be stealing Jennifer’s man this time around (lol). Besides Sex, which is due to hit theaters sometime next year, you can also look for Jennifer to co-star in the Jackie Robinson biopic being directed by Robert Redford, as well as Winged Creatures, a movie about a group of people who form a bond after surviving a random cafe shooting in Los Angeles.

As you all know, female celebrities are coming out with their own fragrances at such a rapid pace that it is almost impossible to keep up with all the new scents. Beyonce is lending her name to Emporio Armani’s Diamonds fragrance. While Jennifer Hudson is now the new face of Avon’s long running Amari perfume. Not to be left out, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stephani and even Mariah Carey have jumped on the bandwagon and are not just becoming the face of a product, but creating signature scents for themselves in the same way Cher, Elizabeth Taylor, and even Jennifer Lopez did.
