Jill Marie Jones Lands A New Movie Role

Actress Jill Marie Jones has found a new gig. The former Girlfriends castmate will star alongside Laura Harring and Oded Fehr in the Nancy Kissam written and directed dark comedy, Drool. The film revolves around Harring, who plays an abused wife who plans to run away with her best friend- played by Jill. Their plans however go awry when Harring accidentally kills her husband (Oded Fehr), leading the two to drive the body cross country. Drool was the winner of the 2006 Slamdance screenplay competition and is presently in post production- with a tentative release date set for the Spring of 2009.

Jill Marie Jones Hosts Labor Day Fundraiser

Actress Jill Marie Jones donned her best Pochahantes costume and joined pro basketabll player Cuttino Mobley to host the Labor Day Classic fundraising party, a benefit that raises funds for the Philly Cat Foundation and United Friends of the Children. The bronze beauty, who can currently be seen in Ice Cube’s family flick, The Long Shots, is also scheduled to appear in the 2009 film, Drool and recently launched her own website, Jill Marie Jones Online. Speaking about her new venture, the actress said she wanted to give her fans a way to “stay in constant with her” and be updated on her future projects. Besides that, you can also seek beauty advice from the one time model and Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, who says she will personally answer all inquiries.

Pics: 18th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards


The Beverly Hills-Hollywood branch of the NAACP held it’s 18th. Annual Theatre Awards last night in Hollywood, California. Honorees included actress Vivica A. Fox and Fox television show “American Idol”. Actress Kimberly Elise (Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Set It Off) and Anthony Anderson (Meet The Andersons, Kingdome Come) hosted the show which was held at the Kodak Theatre. Vivica was awarded the “Spirit Award”, while American Idol was recognized with the Service Award for their “Idol Gives Back” fundraising telecast.

Rumors Of A “Girlfriends” Cancellation

We hear from a source within the “Girlfriends” writing camp that the CW has decided to cancel the series immediately instead of bringing it back for a ninth season. While no official announcement had been made as of press time, we were told the CW will not even film this season’s remaining nine episodes that were suspended during the writer’s strike. Ironically, news of the show’s cancellation comes just as the strike has ended and the writing staff was preparing to return to work. We were informed by one of the writers yesterday that Monday night’s one-hour block of new episodes served as the show’s last. “Girlfriends” became the longest-running live-action comedy series currently on network television with the debut of its current season in October 2007. The writers strike suspended production after only 13 of 22 ordered episodes were completed.
