Singer Kelis and rapper Lil Kim both took to the stage today, on day two of the Way Out West Music Festival. Neither Kim nor Kelis are signed to record labels at the moment or have music to promote, but both ladies have enough of a following, especially overseas, to have landed prime spots on the bill. Gothenburg, Sweeden was the place of this years event and Kelis especially has a huge European fan base. But the Swedes love their rap as well and that’s where Lil Kim comes in.

Rumors of Kelis and Nas splitting up are probably untrue seeing as how the couple were spotted earlier this week leaving Club Villa together. Online reports had the two on the outs because their MTV reality show had been canned and Nas had apparently been seen without his wedding ring. Why is being seen sans a wedding ring always used as a sign that a couple is having problems? How many married people wear their rings everyday and at all times? Besides, Nas ain’t about to leave Kelis. According to him the sista is a traditional wife who can put it down in the kitchen. Trust me when I tell you- men don’t leave women who can cook- lol.

Is anyone besides me watching the Grammys tonight? My gosh it is such a snooze fest. I usually skip the show and catch the highlights online, but because rumors of a Janet Jackson performance have been sweeping the net recently, I decided to tune in. Unfortunately, Janet has not taken to stage yet and wasn’t on the red carpet either. Alicia Keys however, performed a duet with Frank Sinatra and Rihanna performed alongside The Time.

Other Brown Sistas to walk the red carpet so far include Fantasia, Toccara and Keyshia Cole.

Bey is pretty in pink and obviously chose to take advantage of the mild temperatures in New York by sportin’ capri pants in January.

Singers Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys all started off their new year on stage. Alicia performed at NBC’s New Year’s Eve Bash, while Bey performed the final show of her Beyonce Experience tour in Vegas, and Jennifer Hudson performed at the Setai Club in Miami Beach.

Jive Records has officially released singer Kelis from her contract with the label. Though Kelis had a major hit with her single Milkshake, none of her other songs have charted well and her overall album sales have always been lackluster. Kelis was originally signed to Pharell’s Star Traks label, which was distributed though Virgin, which was later moved to Arista and when SonyBMG merged, Kelis somehow ended up on Jive. “It was a case of being in the ever-shrinking world of the record industry and finding herself on a label she wasn’t signed to and without a champion,” says Kelis’ manager, Jeff Rabhan. Rumor has it however that Kelis won’t be out of work for long as the “Bossy” singer is in talks to host a Project Runway-like show on VH1 and is auditioning for numerous TV and film roles.

Singers Kelis and Amerie both thrilled their overseas fans by performing at annual music festivals. Kelis took to the stage in Switzerland to perform at the Gurten Open Air Festival, while Amerie thrilled crowds in the U.K., performing at their yearly T4 On The Beach party.
