Lisa Raye McCoy Misick celebrated her birthday last night by using the occasion to raise funds for the citizens of Turks & Caicos island who were hit hard by Hurricane Ike. The embattled First Lady, who hasn’t set foot on the island since a physical altercation with her husband landed her in the news, asked those who attended her bash to donate money to the cause in lieu personal gifts. Lisa Raye turned 41 and Brown Sistas on hand helping the sista celebrate included model Kim Porter, actress Paula Jai Parker, DJ Spinderella and many others.

The relationship between LisaRaye McCoy-Misick and her estranged husband, The Premiere of the Turks & Caicos island, Michael Misick, has taken another bizarre turn. The actress, who was arrested for assault over the weekend along with her husband, has released photos to Essence Magazine that show her battered and bruised after the altercation with The Premiere. As you all well know, LisaRaye claims that after she entered the home that she and her husband shared on the Turks & Caicos island, her husband attempted to remove her- by any remains necessary, leading her to be airlifted to a hospital and treated for her injuries. And though she was later released the same night, it appears, at least in the photos, The Premiere’s handy work was still quite visible.

Actress and First Lady of the island of Turks & Caicos, Lisa Raye McCoy-Misick, was spotted arriving back in the US last night after a rather tumultuous trip to the island that ended with both her and her husband being arrested for assault. The actress, probably best known for her role as Diamond in Ice Cube’s 1998 movie The Player’s Club, and most recently the CW comedy, All Of Us, spoke to the press before leaving the small island and stated unequivocally her intended plans to come back and live in the place she has called home for the past few years. The First Lady also spoke of her desire to continue to play a role in helping the economy of the island which has seen a boost since the American actress started appearing in brochures and bringing in her Hollywood friends to invest (Will & Jada Pinkett Smith, Duane Martin & Tisha Campbell-Martin).

The Beverly Hills-Hollywood branch of the NAACP held it’s 18th. Annual Theatre Awards last night in Hollywood, California. Honorees included actress Vivica A. Fox and Fox television show “American Idol”. Actress Kimberly Elise (Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Set It Off) and Anthony Anderson (Meet The Andersons, Kingdome Come) hosted the show which was held at the Kodak Theatre. Vivica was awarded the “Spirit Award”, while American Idol was recognized with the Service Award for their “Idol Gives Back” fundraising telecast.

With all the Superbowl hoopla going on I almost forgot that Fashion Week in New York City’s Bryany Park was in full swing. Every February designer’s from around the globe converge on the city to showcase their fall fashion collections. One of the most popular showings is Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat line, which is alaways heavily attended by celebrity sistas. This year was no different as Tyra Banks, Vivica Fox, and Amerie were just a few of the ladies who showed up to see what Baby Phat had to offer for the Fall of 2008.
